I love walking to the plane on the ground. My local airport has only one jetway and 9/10 I do not use it. It's fun seeing the planes up close with the noise, smells, etc... You get to see everything. Plus... sometimes the jetways are extremely long and steep and it's not fun.

From what the article said it sounds as if the passengers had no idea their baggage was not on the plane and there was no one at their destination to explain the situation. That would tend to compound the situation.

An hour is sufficient for about any airline or airport that I have been to. Once you're at the airport you are usually fine. It's calculating the driving time that you need to worry about. I missed my last flight out of SoCal because of that.

I have a flight on Alaska tomorrow and online check in requires you to select seats before checking in, and I was not able to select exit rows when I selected my seats if I believe correctly.
