Re: Coronavirus Aviation Related News & Discussion Thread - March 2020 - Part II

Do you have source regarding the European suspension from the 19th? I see up until yesterday, bizarrely there were STILL flights coming in from Rome to Algiers! http://www.aps.dz/algerie/103075-coronavirus-suspension-temporaire-des-dessertes-aeriennes-et-maritimes-de-vers-l-europe-a-compter-de-jeud...

Flying out of Milan Linate this morning. Plenty flights cancelled... towards the end of the day, almost all of them!

Re: Iraq to pay 4.8M€ for YI-AGP/ALM parking fee

I just spent a few hours trying to find the hard drive with the original photos on. Sadly all I have right now are these, very poor quality photos. Will keep searching though, as it's made me realise I've lost track of a fair few gigs of photos on a hard drive somewhere... pre drop box era. https://...

Re: Iraq to pay 4.8M€ for YI-AGP/ALM parking fee

Looking at photos I took in 2010, the 742 was already missing an engine. I highly highly doubt they were ever maintained properly on the ground. Were ever run or powered up. Also I'm not sure given how remote Tozeur is, whom will go all the way out there to scrap them.

Re: Iraq to pay 4.8M€ for YI-AGP/ALM parking fee

I saw them up close just over 10 years ago... they were definitely not being maintained back then, and were in a pretty awful condition!

Re: Reports of plane crash in Afghanistan

Taliban is stating that they're searching for 2 survivors who fled the crash site before they arrived. The statement comes from Pro-Taliban Twitter accounts included in this thread: https://twitter.com/Natsecjeff/status/1221800080216379394 The aircraft seems to have had some control when crashing, ...

Re: Reports of plane crash in Afghanistan

UA82 New-York - Dehli just entered Afghanistan airspace without showing any sign of route deviation. Why would they deviate? I don't know, it's too early to say, but one can imagine that if an armed group had claimed responsibility for shooting down the aircraft, some companies would prefer to avoi...

Re: UAL 2nd hand aircraft

Let's see if there are any small 'tells' which remain that will be found by obsessives - something like an ash tray in a forward lavatory. Ash trays are in every lavatory regardless. I thought smoking in the lavatories was strictly prohibited and subject to US$5k fine per incident. Yes, but the ide...

Re: Milan Linate airport closes 27/07/19 for three months

With an even more convenient connection from Linate to the Centre with the new M4 metro system, it's going to be even easier. As it is though, most passengers take taxis from Linate when they arrive. Go look at the queue around 9pm on Friday for taxis! Connections from the centre to Malpensa ARE NOT...

Re: Milan Linate airport closes 27/07 for three months

From a business point of view, Linate is absolutely critical. I'm glad they are spending cash on improving the airport, as it really is in dire need of some TLC. I fly out of both MXP and LIN regularly, and when I flew out of Linate this past Monday, they had already started closing down various sho...
