Re: Pilot Expense Policies

Pretty similar for us as previous posts. Most hotels are pretty nice, and some are fantastic. Hotels all have a gym, free wifi for crew, silent rooms. Transportation to and from the hotel is by crew bus. We don't pay for the room. Just incidentals. What's a "silent room"? How do I get one...

Re: Seat change - forced

I was moved by a GA being "helpful" to me, from a middle seat near back of plane to aisle closer to front. I asked about it, said he appreciated my status and moved me (which was nice), but I was traveling with a coworker and wanted to be next to him. So the GA moved me back. I did tell hi...

Re: Airport outdoor observation areas

It’s on the west side of the airport, off 6th street near the approach end of 7R. OOOOOHHHHH...I see it on google maps. When did THAT open????? I think it was 2 summers ago? Well if it's only been there a few years, then I can safely say that I wasn't missing much since it wasn't there. The "o...

MSP has an outdoor viewing area literally in the middle of the airfield, at the intersection of two runways and on the taxiway to a third. It’s really excellent.

Agreed - have lived here for 25 years and just found out about it last year. It's amazing.

Re: Ethiopian Airlines 737MAX crashes enroute to Nairobi

Apparently STAB TRIM CUTOUT switch positions are not recorded by the DFDR, and so they cannot directly identify the position of the switches. Not recorded, because MCAS, as well as the pilots, can change. Likely MCAS will turn out to have three settings - OFF (procedure yet to be disclosed by Boein...

Re: First 737MAX10 fuselage arrives for final assembly

Why is the 7644 in a serif font? I've noticed this on other aircraft in assembly phase, as well as ships.

Obviously sans-serif is possible, as it's that way under the "first MAX-10" area. Is it a situation of having always done it that way so they've never changed?

I think Delta does a pretty good job. If any of you guys follow Jeb Brooks on YouTube he emailed Ed Bastian and got a response back in less than a day. Then Bastian invited him to an interview. In addition, Bastian is pretty candid. Said he has "fake medallion status". https://www.youtube...

DL has a 737-200 full motion sim at their museum in Atlanta. $400 or so for a 1-hour ride. Highly recommend it.

I’ve got a seat on the LGA-DFW on 1/31. Will arrive early to see the “inaugural” go, but chose the longer flight to get a better experience of the plane. Positioning out of MSP... glad I’ve got some SkyMiles to burn. Got to do the final DL 747 out of HNL (upper deck -awesome) so this will be another...

Perhaps they’ll keep a spare aircraft around for when their seasonal service ends and ~200 pax are stranded in Mexico.

OP here. As a MSP flyer, I’ve used SY in the past for leisure travel only. Safe to say I won’t be in the future. But whomever posted the “save $10 over DL” comment is exactly right - aside from the Minneapolis populace, no one will likely care a week from now.

How much would a charter have cost the company? $150k? Small price to pay for the trouble they’re having now. Night night, SY!

How To Find Out If Delta Is Switching-in A 747

Hi everyone. I'm wondering the easiest way to find out when Delta uses a 747 instead of normal planes on domestic routes. For example, this month they have a couple flights between <acronym title="Minneapolis / St. Paul - International / Wold-Chamberlain Field (MSP / KMSP), USA - Minnesota">MSP</acr...

Check this out. I captured the sound twice. It happened two other times prior to this. We were on runway in takeoff config. Noises happened and then about 90 seconds sitting on runway until takeoff. Also, this plane slid off taxiway at Detroit a couple years ago. https://youtu.be/Lr4NpPs9tCo

Seattle 787 Spotting

Hi everyone - I'm going to have a little time to kill in the Seattle area on Monday evening / Tuesday morning. Where is a good spot to go watch/snapshot some 787 takeoffs? Street address or coordinates would be appreciated.

Thanks!
