Anyways, with the help of a couple of people who contact me offline, I decided to poke around Reddit and see what was up. It was eye opening to see that some people post *every* shot they get accepted here. That seems odd to me, but I decided to try linking a photo that I'm quite fond of (and was r...Jump to post
If anything useful comes out of this thread it should be this - that airliners.net itself should be doing more to promote a wider variety and greater amount of photos. Maybe the front page needs redesigned with a scrolling ticker of recently added photos? Maybe it needs a 1 click link to recently ad...Jump to post
I had to look up the E-mail thread and it still comes down to 'the end result has to look natural'. So I interpret that as HDR photos may be acceptable, but we will not open the gates for stacks/panoramas. Thanks. Disappointing. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I'll ask again down the line and ho...Jump to post
Makes sense. I just like the look of photos when the plane is on the ground (nothing against planes in flight), so I wanted to get interesting angles and details that one can't really get from parking garages. At many airports you can find a fence you can poke a lens through (or up to). Just be pol...Jump to post
The search team has located an estimated 85-90% of the aircraft, and has recovered the CVR.

What else can be done from the perspective of taking the actual shots to reduce the blurring? I just invested in a high-end lens for this focal length, so beyond that, I'd love advice on how to improve. Besides holding the camera steady (or panning smoothly), you can play with your autofocus modes ...Jump to post

Per Guardian Flight's Facebook, debris have been located, and the names of the three aboard have been released.
The gist is that some people only seem interested in taking photos of aircraft (and other things, for that matter) because of the exposure/views it gets them. Allow me to take this concept and turn it sideways, Karl. I take photos because I enjoy creating beautiful images. That's why I have many of...Jump to post
With that camera, you need to shoot planes that are 1. close to you, 2. not moving, and 3. will lit, on a sunny day in the morning or late afternoon with the sun at your back. I used a similar camera (Nikon S6000) for several years and had to follow all three of those rules, with rare exception, to ...Jump to post
Since you're talking about dpi I assume you're printing. Dpi is meaningless for digitally-displayed images. If you're resizing images for printing, switch from pixels to inches, change the dimensions to the size you want to print at, and change the dpi to the best resolution which your printer can u...Jump to post

They would all be rejected for motive, I presume. Good eye though, I especially like the third, even more so if the focus point was obvious and purposeful. The first frankly isn't that interesting. The second may have been acceptable if it was portrait format to include the nose gear and not backlit.Jump to post
Thanks Evan, Kas. Was rejected on appeal for OS and low contrast. Did some selective sharpening and raised the contrast a bit. I know the white paint isn't white, but if I bring them up anymore the sky just goes solid white as well and looks awful. It's already brighter than I'd like. Updated edit b...Jump to post
Does "it's fine if the end result looks natural" help? With natural being a common sense natural look. Of course, and I wouldn't expect (or ask for) anything less. But as I said previously (quoted below), the methods used to produce these images from the iPhone XS (combining multiple expo...Jump to post
Still looking for an answer on this... thanks. I'm not familair with the photos it takes or what the result is when taking such photos. Show me an 'A.net ready' edit and I'll be happy to give you my thoughts. I don't own one... still on my iPhone 6, will probably upgrade next gen. AFAIK equipment h...Jump to post
iRacing... since 2011. Built a cheap cockpit last year: https://i.imgur.com/u2OjJPf.jpg What wheel is that? Been looking for something to play Forza with. I think it could be a Logitech G27? It's a Logitech Driving Force Pro. Current equivalent is the Driving Force GT, I believe.Jump to post
Okay, so do you think my shutter speed and technique were okay? It's hard for me to tell, this is like my 5th time spotting and at a camera. :P We have some pretty cool arrivals and departures at 7:00-8:00, so maybe I'll shoot around then. Do you think my shots will improve? I'm unsure with myself ...Jump to post

Also the plane is slightly not in frame please check the grid here >> https://ibb.co/mjqixK i would count the squared grids nose up and tail down you will notice its not centered in frame That's not how you center a photo. Consider the landing gear, darker green at bottom of frame vs lighter blue a...Jump to post
