Re: LAX Aviation Thread - 2019

I don’t think access is a problem for the theme building. It is a 5 minute walk from most terminals. Maybe 7 or 8 from TBIT. the problem is that it is outside security. Connecting passengers hate to go landside. Departing passengers want to be able to relax AFTER waiting in TSA queues. Arriving pass...

Re: SFO Help - Train to Plane

Number 1 sounds like the way to get to Oakland airport, not SFO. I recommend 3. Stay in a hotel in downtown San Francisco. More restaurants and things to do. Then take Bart to SFO when ready to leave. BART takes you to the international terminal. The hotels at the airport area are convenient for the...

Re: Hawaiian being forced out of LAX terminal

One of the benefits of LAX’s now antiquated design is the short curb to gate time/walk. Moving to the center field concourse adds a much longer walk and TBIT security (I don’t recall if this is being expanded or altered - I’m sure someone will clarify). They’re probably concerned about the inconven...

I don't fly TG, but I agree that the earplugs and eyeshades are the things I most often use. Some airline I flew recently (don't remember which one, maybe LH?) came around with a basket of things found in amenity kits and let me choose the ones I wanted. Check to see if the United 777 for your proposed flight has the updated Polaris seat. I think most do but I’m not sure. It is way better than the LH A380 seat I had last summer, especially if you are alone. All have aisle access. I recommend an odd numbered row window seat.

As a 71 year old male the answer is easy. I have to get up to use the toilet frequently. On long haul flights I need to get to the aisle on short notice. A few things I found interesting: 1. They seem to get rid of the 96th street entrance to build T0. Probably this would work because the APM will reduce the bus/shuttle van traffic into the Central area. Getting rid of the traffic light outside T1 would be a HUGE improvement in traffic flow. 2.
