With today's quieter engines wouldn't it make sense, less debris from the ground being sucked up, safer for ground personnel, ditching on ocean/land, giving it a flater profile. Better aerodynamics on rotation?

They are not installed at over-wing exits 

Thats ironic that person could be too injured to open the exit and now you really have an obstacle to get over, if they deflate after deployment whats the concern?

Looks like the skin is made from aluminum and not composite like 787/A350. Is it because with a smaller plane it wouldn't make that much difference in weight savings vs new development costs?
