Lost in the attention of MD11 retirements is the fact that FedEx is retiring ("parking") 757s just as fast as the MD11s. N787FD is scheduled to depart for VCV on Thursday, and N775FD next Monday. Should put FX at about 93 active 757s, down from something like 115ish a few years ago.

What people aren't focusing on is that the daytime complexes give FedEx something of an ability to at least partially-recover a service deficiency. That’s the plan. New terminal where the Doug Fox lot is to open by 2027. Now that’s probably been pushed back by the modifications that need to be made at A. I’d be surprised if it opened by the end of the decade. I'd put money on a zero percent chance of it happening even by the end of the decade....

FedEx has already been retiring MD-11s since the first of the year. So far in 2023 six have been retired so far, which has been an average of 2 retirements per month.
