Re: Everybody gets three boarding passes in Japan. Why?

Huh? You only get one boarding pass. At security, you get a receipt that says you passed through security. I don't know what you're referring to at the gate. You can even print out your boarding pass at home, and that's the same piece of paper that will get you on the plane. Yes that's right. Japan...

Re: HX A359 B-LGD left the fleet?

Hong Kong Airlines is downsizing their operation due to recent events at Hong Kong and they are not making money. Returning and grounding aircraft to their lessors. Cutting frequency. Few current A330 are also stored at HKG at the moment. They are not taking any new delivery too. Yeah. But till now...

Re: Cathay ending YVR-JFK service

One reason why this route has been 'losing money for years' but still stick around could be departure time ex-HKG for JFK, which I think few has mentioned so far. It enables a red-eye departure at the midnight bank ex-HKG. To replace this 1 stop flight will mean departing HKG at around 4am. I am no...

Re: Cathay ending YVR-JFK service

Likely partially due to the current problems in HK resulting a 40% drop in tourism among other things. This was a nice red-eye for YVR travellers as it arrived early in NYC allowing for a full day of business or pleasure, coupled with great Cathay service and a premium experience overall. The sourc...

Re: Powerbank causes fire on China Eastern A320neo MU2809 NKG-XMN

I guess Jackie Chan is correct, "Chinese stuff will explode" :duck: :duck: More seriously, though, at least the fire is more or less contained to an area. If anything it's not too different from "exploding phone battery" anyway. Including those parts made in China on the Boeing ...

Re: Powerbank causes fire on China Eastern A320neo MU2809 NKG-XMN

In my experience, China polices and emphasises not putting batteries/powerbanks in the hold and not using powerbanks in-flight more strongly than most other countries. For example, every powerbank is examined as you go through the security checkpoints, I don't see this elsewhere in the world. I'm g...

Re: Powerbank causes fire on China Eastern A320neo MU2809 NKG-XMN

My concern isn’t so much them being in the cabin, that’s manageable. My concern is how many people put these in their checked luggage. Or other bigger batteries like those that are being built into suit cases. I agree with you. Sadly, I do not think we can really expet such measurement to be enforc...

Re: Airport Departure Gate Assignment

One thing I’ve always wondered about when travelling mainly through UK airports is, that departure gates are only announced shortly before boarding begins. Other large airports like FRA, MUC, and AMS seem to announce the departure gates well in advance. Why is it different? It always makes me feel ...

I saw many agents marked the seq # of passengers using mobile bp so it should not be a problem

Re: Airport Departure Gate Assignment

In some cases it's also because the gate is still in use for the previous flight and therefor you don't want people for the next flight standing at the gate yet. The gate is only being announced once the previous flight has completed boarding. I often use this as a trick to figure out which gate wi...

SQ don’t care about the number of seat in Y very much for CGK, but the do care in J &F.
They had even send 345 to CGK between long haul flights

Their first 787-10 flight from HKG had to return to the gate because of engine issue,
Which resulted in a few hours delay of the flight.

Re: WN will fly all the MAX8 storage in Victorville,Ca.

Why are they accepting aircraft they cannot use? Accepting aircrafts now means once the issue is cleared, They can have more flyable 737Max on hand immediately, especially when it is summer peak season some months later. At that time Boeing will probably experiencing delivery jam and further delay ...

Re: Weren’t EIS smoother in the ‘80s/‘90s?

I believe it is due to the trend that we have pushed the new planes to the edge of current technology limit, therefore more and more issues are found therefore less smoother EIS for the new generation planes I.e. 787 380 320neo and 737MAX then the older generation one. Same occurred when 747 DC10 an...
