They are all kind of backlit. but not too bad. Motive maybe? On the helicopters some of the blades are cropped out.

Jump to postShamu looks good to me.
The c130 looks a tad soft on my monitor.
There are a few threads on this topic. (Just do a quick search)
I shoot in AV priority (f6.3 to f8). I try to keep my ISO as low as possible. As long as my shutter speed is fast enough.
It also looks blurry or soft to me. It is also very slightly backlight. ( Not a big issue)
Jump to postI have read that the 24-105 is sharper than the 17-40. Maybe yours is not focusing properly?
Jump to postIt would get the motive rejection I am afraid. Its way to overexposed too. It is a great keepsake though.
Jump to postWow, I never knew DTW had an observation deck. Thanks for sharing!
Jump to postI recommend NO filter. Filters can degrade image quality, due to cheap glass.
Anyways you can do pretty much anything (filter wise) in photoshop.

Jump to postThe second one I see grain in the bottom part of the fuselage. The first one looks a tad soft? (Might be my monitor)
The rest seem fine to me. Good shots!
If your rebel is still working fine I would either a) Buy some L glass or B) get a 40d (without a lens).
The 450D is a good camera, I haven't heard anything bad about.
My $.02
The image quality is great on this lens. Some say it's L quality. Build is ok, there was some issues with lens barrel wobble. I think canon fixed that though.
Jump to postBoth look good to me. Maybe a VERY small amount of sharpening. I don't see anything else.
Jump to postThey both look soft. The first one needs to be rotated to the left. (CCW)
What are you using to edit the photos?
If you can afford it, go for it. I wouldn't think changing the lens would be such a big deal that you would have to buy another camera body. The 40d has 6 fps and a better focusing then the 350d. (I think). I would just use the 40d for both landscape and aviation. It is a good idea to have a backup ...
Jump to postI don' think it will be able to make it in. The photoshopped ones are over sharpened (jaggies) and they still look blurry.
I can't think of a way to fix the original.
Good catch though.
I see lots of grain (under the wing and in the sky) and lots of jaggies(tail and lettering).
Nonetheless it is a cool photo!

Jump to postI seen the original of this lens. It looked a lot less bazooka like in black. (still looked like a bazooka though)
I wonder why the decided to color the lens green?
Any guess of what the price is going to be? I say $15,000 USD

Jump to postI have always thought that RAWs look softer due to in-camera settings. When you shoot jpeg they are sharpened a little bit in the camera. RAW is the actual image like a negative, for some reason the RAW is softer. (this is what I experienced so maybe its just me)

If you had more of the wing in the photo it would have a better motive.

Jump to postYou could ask the F/A's or wait till they sit down.
I usually always have the window seat so I put my camera against the corner or nest to the seat. Then I put my legs in front of it to block the view. Or put a pillow or blanket over it.
It looks like the top of the building is level but then the ground is not. Its probably just an optical illusion or something.

Jump to postIn RAW you can change the white balance. You know if you leave the camera in florescent setting and shoot outdoors all of the pictures come out yellow. In RAW you could change that yellow color.
RAW is like a negative. Its all of the data. Whereas JPEG it is compressed.
What brand camera are you thinking of getting? Prime lenses are the best for image quality but they can't zoom. This is a professional lens ... <a href="http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=149&modelid=8503" target=_blank>http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...fo...
