The (remaining) 343 are newly refurbished and will not be replaced any time soon. There will be a group-wide order for 2022-2026 for all of LH Group 343, 772(OS), maybe the oldest 333 and EW's 332 (they are leased). Yes, that way they will get a much better price and also they can standarize the di...Jump to post
Too bad. The core of this project was more than restoration but rather the German-American relationship. I wonder why they decided to remove Americans from the project and continue in Germany?Jump to post
Boeing updated their LH product page to feature the revised livery (just not on the header image): http://www.boeing.com/commercial/customers/lufthansa/ Boeing seem to have misplaced the Kranich in those renderings - too high on the tail, like the previous livery. Lufthansa have some nice rendering...Jump to post

I must say, LH is one of the most welly managed airlines in the world. Their success is definitely reflected on their product. Teutonic efficiency. It's almost scary! I mean, look at their product and compare it to BA, KL, DL, and other flag carriers. Nothing compares. Not sure what you are getting...Jump to post
More GE 9X pictures here:
http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/19 ... 47-testbed
That's the intriguing engine question for Boeing. Sure GE wants to be exclusive on the 797, why not? But what if PW gets it right on the geared turbo fan and starts doing their PiP's and upgrade in terms of temperatures, pressures, lighter fan blades etc. GE / RR are behind on geared fans. And ther...Jump to post
I think the subtext is that the 797 design is more or less firmed and internally the US3 (primarily) are jockeying for launch customer pricing and terms. Hence, UA's appeal to the public and the general chatter we are hearing from CEOs considering the 797.Jump to post
I contend LH group will do a split order: About 30 B789/78J for LX and OS. About 30 A339/A359/A35K for LH mainline. They will stick with 20 B779 as a 1:1 B744 replacement but don't expect more in the short term until they retire the B748/A388 if there is no NEO for the latter. LH might be a launch c...Jump to post
I hope people are getting some interesting video footage of these Xwind attempts, etc.Jump to post
If we look at the key engine suppliers: who has the capacity to develop and deliver what the 797 needs within 5-10 years? PW: Pretty stuck in a rut with GTF. Supply and quality issues. RR: Seem to also be having issues churning out the volume. See also Trent-1000 issues. Of course, according to Airb...Jump to post
The A320/A321neo is turning out to be a blessing and curse. All those orders are useless if the planes can't fly. I suppose Boeing is likely to face similar issues from CFM.Jump to post
with a relatively small fleet size of 20 on order ...... with your type rating argument, I don't think this make any sense at all plus the superior argument is by airlines basis as we've heard argument about the capital spending on the plane isn't competitive enough compare to ceos already one good...Jump to post
LH has a long history of a degree of loyalty to Boeing. I think they won't make the political mistake of going all Airbus. I also don't think a decision is imminent as they maintain and fly their AC for quite a while. I think Brussels and Eurowings will morph into one LCC and will get any second han...Jump to post
Does anyone know if this is some sort of official concept rendering from Boeing?
I am thinking, at a minimum, Boeing is gathering QF, DL, if not the entire US3 to make them all launch customers. If Boeing is going to commit to this project, it is going to be with big names attached. Conversely, the ball will then be in Boeing's court to deliver or fail miserably.Jump to post
Read between the lines fellas: LH has too big of a 777-9 order on their hands and are looking for a way out. Converting part of the order to a freighter variant would provide an excellent opportunity to right-size the order without penalties. People keep repeating this as if it is fact. I guess if ...Jump to post

Also would kinda go against Trump's ''America First'' policy, and could endanger lives if he re-imposes sanc...Jump to post
Is the biggest order still up for grabs: what will LH Group do? Austrian:6x 763Er and 6x772ER (need replacing before too long) Swiss: 7x A343 and 14x A333 (the former need replacing before the latter) Brussels/Eurowings: 6x A333 (seem to taking used frames only) LH: 17x A343, 13x A346, and 19x A333 ...Jump to post
Beautiful plane. Prefer it to the -900. My bet is that this will be their next "A321LR" product.Jump to post
Could be someone's attempt (Airbus) to promote the brand to younger audiences? Can't hurt. Meaning, you/we old people of A.net aren't the target here.Jump to post
Is it too early to congratulate Boeing, the 777X program, and Ethiopian?
So many A fans here on this A.net consider this frame to be stillborn. Obvious bias is obvious.
The market, and Boeing, have to wait until there is a suitable engine for the job, offering the mix of thrust and efficiency. As for MOM not covering the 737/757: makes perfect sense to me. The 737 is a cash cow with over 4,000 in backlog. Meanwhile, Boeing will cede the 757 market to the A321/LR......Jump to post
I think the official draft designs shown here gave them plenty to work with which is why I'm even more disappointed with what they eventually produced. https://imagr.eu/up/N4Hyj_lufty.png The branding itself seems to have been done well, making yellow an accent colour, refining the Kranich and deep...Jump to post
Any idea when Boeing will update this page and/or release 777-9 models in new LH livery?

Step in the right direction.
What if we continued that yellow line and ran it forward in a wavy fashion towards the nose, maybe with some blue accents, like United? And then put yellow cranes on the engines?
Snooze job. Atlas is indeed a better version lolJump to post
Would this not spell doom for the MOM/NSA? I was thinking UAL would be its launch customer as it was for the 777. I guess they can't wait that long. Boeing may be taking too long to pull the trigger on this one. But if the case isn't there it just isn't there. It may also be waiting to test new manu...Jump to post
Maybe there is a reason we only got a tail shot? Maybe LH will pull a Norwegian and go with a silver nose/forward section/condom? Or maybe yellow? Or dark blue?Jump to post
Sorry, but as a LH fan and former employee, I find this unimaginative, uninspiring, boring, and frankly too conservative. A smaller, silver crane sitting lower on the tail, a darker blue (almost black) background, and boring white everywhere else. Yawn.Jump to post
BTW, for those of you who are grabbing the Kleenex in ecstasy over this, be careful next time you accuse Boeing of being too dependable on one client (777X and Emirates). A message to fans in either camp: one customer does not a successful program make. The A380 is neither "saved" nor is t...Jump to post
So what is the total backlog now? This order for 20-36 more examples buys say at least another 6 years of manufacturing? By then, Boeing will announce MOM/NSA as well as the engine manufacturer for said aircraft. I wonder if such engines could also NEO the A380 along with an overall diet, sharklets,...Jump to post
Um. Lightning can strike twice, despite the odds. The first iteration of DL 284 was a B763. What about the second iteration? Now if it was the exact same MX problem on two different AC, then that would be a little spooky. Unless we assume foul play, like a hack job.Jump to post
Congratulations to Airbus and especially JL. What a lovely way to go out with a bang. Thanks to him, we at least have a "healthy" duopoly and I am sure that has, in some way, benefited the traveling public. This order will produce American jobs, and I hope it will send a clear message to B...Jump to post
