Re: Compare DL in BOS with AA in PHL

I think if anything, AA’s JFK ops are more comparable to DL’s BOS focus city from an international perspective. Both are focused on higher yielding, high O/D routes that do not see much connecting traffic.

Could these be scheduled repositioning flights to position the 787 into PHX for future intercontinental flights? Not really sure how aircraft dispatching/routing works but would this case apply here? AA is rumored to announce more international routes this week.

Re: Atlanta Mayor OK's Smoking Ban at ATL

I'd love a gym at the airport. If I'm on a long layover, I could hit the gym for an hour, work off the stress, take a nice shower, and not have to deal with smokers, 'cuz you know, they're off killing themselves slowly instead of working out, getting fit, and so on. I'm always amazed at how smokers...

My argument is that I find it hard to believe that an economy and city the size of Miami doesn't generate enough traffic to support an East Asia non-stop route. It's BOTH demand and geography that's working against MIA. It's hard enough to overcome one barrier, overcoming two is, well, twice as har...

I remember hearing a few years back that the largest local markets from MIA to East Asia are (in no particular order) TPE, HKG, and MNL. In that case, TPE-MIA might not be the most ridiculous idea ever. In any case, when you combine the most tepid big Asian airline, JAL, with the most tepid big Ame...

Why do AA’s hubs have to be “geographically balanced”? The majority of people live on the coasts and travel coast to coast. AA’s hubs are in prime positions to serve this traffic. You’re telling me an airline has to have a hub in flyover country like MSP, DEN, or SLC to be dominant? AA already has t...
