Re: American Airlines DC 10-10 3 class

AA A300's were very rare outside of the East Coast. From what I recall, they were not in regular service at DFW, ORD, or LAX. time. I worked for AA at DFW the entire decade of the 2000s and can confirm this is true, the gates were not even striped for the A300’s. DFW saw both 2 and 3 class DC-10’s ...

I get why so many are saying why change fees will be back down the road, they have been an important piece of the revenue puzzle for the US airlines especially over the years. Surely putting another £1.2B into Virgin is simply delaying the inevitable until next year. Things will be no better for them then. It will eventually go the same way as Thomas Cook and Monarch. American does have some advantages despite their quite mixed service reputation currently. Re: What was the rationale for 2-5-2 configuration on older widebodies?

Besides that one middle seat in the middle section, I actually think 2-5-2 is superior personally because of the twin seats. DL/UA/AA all had 2-5-2 on their 777s. DL was the first to shift to 3-3-3 around 2003~2005. UA began to switch around 2008 or so with the IPTE retrofit. AA only switched after...
