I'll ask the airport director.. he's been here since they filled in the salt ponds! In regards to the new terminal, we can't wait... you guys have NO IDEA how crowded it gets inside, especially in the summer. Continental will have 30 people in line for 4 positions, USAir will have 20, and Delta has ...Jump to post
Oh, we also get the Orlando Magic 737-300 in here quite a bit. She tends to park out on the SIDA at spot #12 .. which sucks when we need that space in the winter!Jump to post
Being my "home" airport :P 1. We have 11 positions on the ramp. All are for aircraft with a wingspan of 102 feet or less, leaving only 4 feet of space between each. 2. In regards to the pilots not knowing how much distance they have, most airports are REQUIRED to have distance markers off to the side of the runway. They say "1" "2" "3" etc meaning there is only 1,000 feet remaining, 2000 feet remaining, etc...Jump to post
its difficult to get thru to someone... but at least its not to one of our call centers in Mexico or the Philippines where you surely would get someone confused. I am a Supervisor for a "legacy carrier's" regional Airline (owned by the main airline). Yesterday we had thunderstorms in the vicinity of our airport and I had to close our ramp - meaning we can't land, we can't depart due to lightning within 5 miles of the airport. We spent some time talking with ...Jump to post
well the charter is marketed thru Mega Tour Operator Apple Vacations... USAirways & USAirways Vacations isn't nearly as large as Apple...
which is why Apple can risk the charter...
and not to mention the charter flights are meant to break-even.. money is in the hotel rooms!
You guys need to do some reading of the newspaper in Aspen. You throw them some Q400s and they will have kiniption fits! the local crowd as well as inbound-cliche travelers *demand* jets... which is why I'm so surprised UA has Mesa doing a few Dash 8'...Jump to post

actually that was over at Boca Chica NAS which is 2 miles off the end of runway 9. AA uses it as an alternate airport for the 767s and A300s. Chalks also has to pay Bahamasair a portion of the ticket fees as part of the Cabotage agreement. I don't think we'll see any airlines getting 5th Freedom rights out of the Bahamas.. Groundstop, As of now there's nothing to say otherwise in the RGG's (USAir talk). But there is hope that they will bring the E170s down here, at least for the summer, due to the CRJ's really bad payload restrictions... right now they can only take 38 (and that's on a GOOD day) out of here.... winter...Jump to post

The problems at Bahamasair still exist, I'm not talking about financial issues.. the government will *always* subsidize the airline.
