I have the earlier version of this lens. While the autofocus is not the fastest, it works well, with or without VR.
Most of my shots here are with the lens.

What a very interesting discussion. In brief, I have noticed the same phenomenon when shooting in the early morning with the low sun directly behind me and aircraft passing in front of me from left to right and getting closer to me until directly in front. I am no expert and rarely use AWB, but it s...

Could be a bit less.

The centering rule was established on this site by the first owner of the site.
He was not a photographer and clearly understood little of the commonly accepted aesthetic rules and conventions of photography - the rule of thirds, etc.
The centering rule should be abolished. Period.

Jump to postRAW gives more scope to make adjustments.
It also gives more scope to ruin a photo.
Turn it off.
Why? Because it will sharpen things that should not be sharpened, such as the sky.
If your photo from the camera is in focus and shows no motion blur and if in-camera sharpening is set to 'off', one pass of Smartsharpen at 75%, radius 0.3 will usually be all you need. It's normally all I ever do. If your photo from the camera is out of focus or suffers from motion blur, no amount ...
