US Repatriation Flight from Cape Town Question

Hey Guys and Gals - I am in South Africa, and stranded due to the lockdown. The US State Dept. organized a repatriation flight operated by Ethiopian with a stop in Lome, in Togo. They did not mention anything about aircraft type. I see other Ethiopian flights going to EWR this last week from other d...

SAA 2224 - CPT-GRU

Hey Guys. See SAA operating CPT-GRU tonight. Flew over my house on departure and the skies are so quiet these days I was very excited to hear a heavy. I am tracking it and I see it isnt showing up on FR24. Is this just a data issue? I assume this is a repatriation flight. https://www.flightradar24.c...

Re: LH to announce two new US-routes from MUC

I’d say PHX. The NA market and esp west coast is one of the few highly profitable markets for LH group. The other, not sure. Maybe SEA - MUC or LAS.

Hopefully not a SJC round 2.

Turbulence: Flight Attendant slammed into ceiling (video)

Good day, Wow. This video is frightening. Not sure if this is posted above. Looks like a bad case of turbulence, an air pocket, etc. (not sure) and painful too. The ALK Airlines flight was traveling from Pristina International Airport to EuroAirport. Not sure how many injured. But the video is somew...

Re: Corporate traffic sneak peek: SFO-PVG tops list of UA’s most lucrative Apple routes

Unless some other airline decides to open multiple TPAC services from Sfo or sjc, there's nothing really to discuss. DL and AA have partners that fly Transpac from SFO That's not how airline contracts work... True...more like a thread fwd'd from VP of Sales to local AM CC'd saying we apologize. AA/...

Re: Corporate traffic sneak peek: SFO-PVG tops list of UA’s most lucrative Apple routes

The nature of PRISM is such that every single corporate booking is logged by O&D, by cabin and by fare paid; and while the flown carrier is masked, it's pretty clear which carrier is moving SFO-PVG. Why would airlines permit their data to be logged and distributed like this? I can’t think of an...

Companies treat their workers like kids, they'll behave like kids. At my co., if I'm sick or not feeling well, then I just don't come in. A simple email to my team. I don't need to go to the dr. to prove I won't be productive at work b/c I feel like cr$%p. What if I am sick for more than a couple da...

Re: THE Problem With United FAs. Even I'm Fuming At This!

This FA needs to go. Inappropriate to be talking to a customer like this and especially on a public medium. I wonder if UA will take notice of their employee. This makes UA look bad. The OP has every right to be upset and even more so how this apparent FA is talking to him. Although, this probably s...

I just love when I have to board with stairs. Give me stairs anyday over a jet bridge. Especially on the 747 and boarding a long haul flight. Knowing this piece of metal is going to be airborne for 12+ hours over the Atlantic Ocean.

Re: The loneliest flight in the world?

I flew QF64 in 2015. Was a brilliant flight. I did feel a little eerie looking at the IFE Map. Was a surprisingly smooth flight, too. Normally all my flights out of JNB have been a bit bumpy. I felt more isolated on SAAs JFK-JNB, just because it was a longer flight and on an A343, which had the long...

I've been watching this thread for weeks now. Anxiously looking for leaks and any ideas on the new livery. I agree that it's going to be a move towards standardizing LH group liveries in the future, which means a boring livery. Why they want to change the iconic and timeless logo is beyond me. Thank...

I can't believe that this topic was brought up in the first place as it's so bloody obvious and it's nothing new it's the norm at this time of year for obvious reasons and has happened for decades. Hi there and happy holidays!

Sitting in FRA now and see at least 10 Lufti 747-8 on the remote ramp with their doors open and clearly not getting ready for a departure. Isn't that a lot of metal to be sitting around? Or am I missing something!?

Thanks for any insight !

Doing more research over the past few months, this idea is becoming more interesting. Thanks you all for your insight! I had no idea AA even attempted that! I see it time and time again where the paying public have voted with their wallets, and the airlines respond to that. If they can pack more people into a plane, and charge less. they will sell more. Save as to what VC10ER said, w...

The main reason that change is a part of everyday life, and in time people are not going to want to be stuffed into Y like Spam in a can. Who cares? Airlines not becoming a commodity

With so much of airlines' customers caring only about price, how can they become less of a commodity, and more of a differentiating service (That is assuming the product and n...

I really can't see what the benefit would be of such a carrier, if you're thinking of a carrier flying regional jets (or larger) as opposed to the eight-seaters SurfAir flies. As jetmatt pointed out, in order for scheduled service to work, you need a massive volume (hmm...that sounds contradictory,...

Hi - Would a members - only airline perhaps be viable? Something like SurfAir, but on a larger scale network. A members -only airline that has a model similar to a private county club.
