I pass by Kystvejen Daily and usually see 2-3 hanging around. But today; None.
Fond memories of flying those quads. Will actually miss them.
According to Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet (https://ekstrabladet.dk/nyheder/erhverv ... ge/8095393), four Norwegian pilot and crew recruitment companies are bankrupt.
Is that a "clever" way of getting out of severance pay?
Wow... the situation would be really devastating if LHR were to block one perfect usable runway just for parking. Geez, if the active runway Gets shut down for whatever reason the airport would need to close and divert all incoming traffic if there are planes parked on the other one You would proba...Jump to post
Does anybody know, if SAS will ratain any aircraft in the viking livery like OY-KBO (https://www.airliners.net/photo/Scandinavian-Airlines-System-SAS/Airbus-A319-131/5875823?qsp=eJwtjEEKwjAQRa8is3ZTCoLdxQso1AsMyacWqwkzAxpK7%2B40uHu8B2%2BlmN%2BGr91rAQ2kYIkPOlJh4ZfSsNIT9ZMlOdMYxkPou7N3zWKX6i6xIcSIYkh/...Jump to post
Landed at CPH today. There were two A343s, an A333 and an A359 SAS planes sitting idle outside the hangars. Are these the birds that were assigned to Beijing (CPH+ARN) and Shanghai (CPH) + the newly delivered A359? With SAS' slim longhaul fleet, it looked overwhelming to see four birds sitting idle ...Jump to post
Air Greenland is writing on their pages they have ordered a single A330-800, to replace their current A330-200. Only in Danish so far https://www.airgreenland.dk/om-os/vores-fly-og-helikoptere/airbus-330-800neo Interesting - apparently the A330-800 NEO can go 8,150 NM further than current equipment...Jump to post
I can think of at least 4 reasons: - Denmark and Sweden are *extremely* expensive places to visit and do business. Hubbing at the likes of ARN and CPH must cost a fortune - hardly a good strategy for a carrier with severe financial problems! Don't forget that eating out in places like Copenhagen an...Jump to post
Finally SEA was closed, after 43 years (!!), due to the economic crisis, which hit SAS very hard. SAS closed 3 LH routes, CPH-SEA, CPH-DEL and ARN-PEK at the 2009/2010 winter schedule change. They also stored 2 A340s on top of that. SEA was profitable especially because of the cargo, but the route ...Jump to post

Nope, the aircraft being pushed restricts it. It takes 9 men (3 on each main gear, 2 on nose wheel, plus dispatcher/walker) to push a Sukhoi Superjet, 12 for a CRJ (6 per wing). Anything larger, forget it. Too heavy and too few places to push safely. Well that’s an unusual piece of knowledge CK Sou...Jump to post
SAS to add three A321LR to their fleet. First flight in early 2020: https://www.sasgroup.net/en/sas-expands ... ong-range/
CPH-BOS daily is probably a candidate as well as the 2nd daily CPH-EWR rotation. What else?
SAS CEO Rickard Gustafsson mentions the opportunity to open a direct route from Aarhus to New York: https://ekstrabladet.dk/nyheder/samfund/sas-arbejder-aktivt-paa-direkte-flyrute-mellem-aarhus-og-new-york/7476827 When will we stop hearing these one-off dreams that will (almost) never become reality?Jump to post

The SK LCY flight was around 2006 I believe. The BA flight came later around 2011 and operated until 2016. At one point SAS operated LCY-CPH (with Q400), LCY-ARN with RJ70 and LCY-OSL with RJ70. The BA route wasn't unprofitable and even went up to three times daily but was axed to launch Dublin fiv...Jump to post
Hmmm, won't this be a huge leap in capacity? i mean the A320 NEO sits 180 pax and if they take out the 736s and 737-700s the next smaller airplane is the CRJ-900 which seats 90 pax..From 90 to 180 is a huge gap.. Sas is going all the way towards being a LCC with premium service. They layed off thousands of workers. Transferred to India all the back office and accounting. Not that others have done otherwise. Vueling will pay the Danish passengers. Meeting Monday cancelled.
In Danish: https://www.business.dk/transport/efter ... ferrer=RSS
The Swedes announced a while ago that they would at best retain but more likely reduce their share.
Very slim chance that the Danes will pick up the Norwegian parts.
LH was hours away from acquiring SAS back in 2008. Meanwhile, SAS has become profitable. Maybe time to close the deal?
The Norwegian state is selling all of its shares in SAS: https://finalcall.travel/no/breaking-ne ... jer-i-sas/

HEL statistics for May 2018 I find OSL-ORD possible even though IAD and SFO are in the Top 10 on the list of unserved routes from Norway while ORD is not (See: Avinor ).
