As someone who worked in ACK and MVY years ago, go arounds were the norm on some days there.. I remember several days where the fog didn't even burn off. Nothing scary about it, just normal procedures.

I think VC is done.. haven't seen their a/c move from the SFB hangar in a long time.. according to flightaware, it has been over 2 weeks since anything has been airborne for them

UA never should have added ORD and IAH, IAD was clearly the better choice. IAD would have easily allowed for more connections to leisure destinations. This is why DL and ATL could also work. DL did ATL out of ACY and it didn't do well, but part of the issue was they overpriced it compared to PHL.. ...

Isn't a big part of this that Spirit will not even check in a passenger less than 45 minutes before departure. If so it will help the airline look good, but if you've stood in line for a half-hour and you get to the counter at 44 minutes before your flight - that might really stink for passengers. ...

I think one that comes to mind with me is the Allegiant emergency landing in FAR (2015 IIRC) , when the airport had been NOTAM closed for airshow purposes. Apparently, they did not have enough fuel to proceed to an alternate airport

I dont get how LAL cannot attract all those European charters VS SFB... it is way closer to Disney, closer to the resorts in the Davenport/Celebration area and also closer to TPA and Busch Gardens?? I believe the Piedmont DH8's were (are) based out of SBY.. that's where the mx base was...
I remember PHL being the DH8 capital back in the day... they seemed to be everywhere. Flew them several times PHL-BWI and PHL-MDT

IIRC, the 19-seaters were doomed pretty much when they were put under part 121 regulations (I think they were 135 before).. with the added maintenance costs and everything else, it kind of killed them off

There should be no issues.. ACY has arrestor cables on their main runway and they retract into the pavement. They are only up when the F-16's take off and land and are controlled by the ATCT
