Awesome thread
50 years ago 75 person jets where mainline.
Part of the problem is arrivals can’t be staggered on the 28s because space is needed to have departures on the 1s. Can’t be fixed.
Jump to postOf course it is. There is no design, it just happened. Crossing runways that are not far apart, hills around the airport, nowhere to expand, huge demand that can only be accommodated on a clear day. What was planned?
Jump to postOnly way it will work is to move terminal next to LIRR train station. Isolated location too far out for Nassau County. Flew out of there in early 80's, only service to Alb, Dca, PIT, ORD and BOS. Also discount airline to Mco on old Dc-8.
Jump to post8400 feet 4R/22L at JFK seems to work .
Jump to postShould be able to walk between concourses.
Jump to postOn Saturday flew into Lga, runway 4-22 was closed. Flew approach to 22 and sidestep to and landed on runway 13. Are all the turns due to conflicts with JFK or the buildings and bridges on final?
Jump to postThere is literally nothing around Santa Clara. It is very rural and 3 hours from Havana.
Jump to postTpa had flights for London, Frankfort and Zurich last night, not bad.

Jump to postFlew on Bac's dozens of times. Always knew it was coming. The engine noise was amazing. Allegany redid the interiors and used parts from D.C.-9s. Flew on them with Allegany and Air Florida. Planes had bus like overhead luggage shelves. One time in Alb. It was so cold rampers could not get Air stairs...
Jump to postYou go to Cuba once, unless you have relatives there.
Jump to postContract of carriage, if boarded, to remove someone from their seat they must be basically a danger to the plane in some way.
Jump to postYour not even safe In first class. Once inside the aluminum cylinder different rules apply.
Jump to postUnions will not allow it, would need less rampers
Jump to postAA for a time had alternating smoking and non-smoking sections on 727s so the whole plane stunk.
In college in 1978 travelled from Montreal to Dublin on Aer Lingus in smoking because professor who got boarding passes smoked. Always seemed stupid to allow smoking.
Good loads out of TPA in December but fares where very cheap.
Jump to postHavana Cuba has a least 2 terminals
Jump to postLonghauler, maybe a hundred a day to whole island. Cuba has no infrastructure whatsoever. See it once and go somewhere else unless you like bathrooms without toilet paper and toilet seats. Santa Clara airport is literally in the middle of no place. Havana airport is a joke. People are begging for so...
Jump to postALB is always going to be challanged with NYC since you can be in midtown Manhattan in 2.5 hours on Amtrak.
Jump to postRunway 1/19 at ALB probably dates from the 1930's
Original runway was 5000, then 6000 then 7200 and now 8500 feet long.
I went to Santa Clara, Cuba, last month from Tpa on a JetBlue charter and the last person to board was a mechanic from JetBlue.
Jump to postCopa on Wednesday Oct. 26 was about 3/4 full on a 737 700 and on Sunday October 30 it was almost full (maybe 10 empty seats in the back/ full up front) on a 737 700. Panama City was a great place to go for 4 nights.

Jump to postJust came back from Panama on Copa. Great airport with great connectivity to central and South America. I think it would be better to build that up to daily.
Jump to postHavana airport uses a separate terminal for US bound flights. You wound have to ask the Havana airport authorities why they stopped our boarding while it was raining. I am sure toilet seats and jet bridges are made in many countries thru out the world. The terminal used to board planes to the US als...
Jump to postI just returned from Cuba and Havana Airport is not ready for the influx of US flights. The terminal is awful, there are only 3 parking spots for planes, the boarding has to stop if it is raining, the one tug for push backs was barely working and there were no toilet seats in the bathrooms. The term...
