I know aircraft divert everyday but this caught my eye. Why would they divert to PDX? I would have thought the routing would be closer to the California coastline. Anyone know what happened here?

I do something similar to member n92r03. I carry a $5 Starbucks gift card with me that I will use for a tip if I feel it's warranted. Far less awkward then a cash exchange in my opinion.
