AA restarts GUA today with a daily flight to DFW and 5 weekly flights to MIA. Hopefully they do well.

I have always had this dream that a big cargo airline would open a regional Central American/Caribbean/Mexico hub in the region. GUA is building a cargo-only airport close to its Pacific coast. But one can only dream.

Anyways, such a beautiful aircraft and an excellent strategic purchase by FedEx.

People seem to think airlines need hubs everywhere. UA has hubs in the highest O/D, premium heavy airports in the United States. And they aren’t small hubs.

They could very well strengthen their position in Florida, but they don’t need a hub there to do that.

They should since that policy applies all of Avianca, not just AV El Salvador. United should care to align policies because they wanted to get closer to AV like they did to CM, and DL and AA should care for competitive reasons. TPA got spanked by AA in the MIA-TPA route going from 7 down to 2. I fly that route quite a bit to see family (I'm just not into 4.5 hours of Turnpike driving). I like how UA is being opportunistic and is seizing market share in Central America. I guess having hubs at Central America’s biggest O/D cities helps.

Does anyone have any information on real AI traffic with real aircraft and liveries? Is it being developed? I can´t seem to find a proper answer anywhere. I know flightradar is in the sim but it assigns random aircraft and liveries to it.

Interesting to see UA beefing up service to SAL, GUA and SJO from IAD, LAX, IAH and EWR. I don’t think IAD has ever been daily and they only operated LAX from SAL for a brief period a few years ago. I took this as SAL is one of the few places Americans can go...and perhaps they also gave UA money. ...

I assume he meant "travel". In my opinion, travel to Europe will be focused almost exclusively to LHR, MAD, and CDG with an odd ball route somewhere.

Don’t forget that the capacity lost from the retired aircraft doesn’t need to be replaced. Demand is at an all time low and won’t return for a while.

Looks like UA moved EWR - Asia flights up to resuming May 21st. Seems that Europe begins in waves starting in May. I am not optimistic about the widespread resumption of service on 5/20. I think Southwest is one of the best-positioned airlines to combat these terrible times for many industries. The industry will start to recover more or less at the same time that the MAX will be recertified, giving them a better hand to grip on markets whose carrier is struggling.

Wow, NK FLL-GUA going up to 11 weekly and MCO-GUA going to daily. That is great news. NK will have up to 4 flights a day to GUA compared to only 5 weekly flights a little more than a year ago.

What AA has that Delta doesn’t is MIA, the most lucrative Latin American hub. This is a solid defensive move from AA. I would like them to be more on the offense as well.

Does anyone know why B6 offers so little connections from GUA? The flight arrives at 6 am, which gives plenty of time for other connections. The same can be said for the returning flight, which leaves JFK at 7 pm.

So far, the flights I've been looking at from GUA aren't necessarily cheap. Around 750$ round trip JFK-GUA in the middle of June and July.
