I have always had this dream that a big cargo airline would open a regional Central American/Caribbean/Mexico hub in the region. GUA is building a cargo-only airport close to its Pacific coast. But one can only dream.
Anyways, such a beautiful aircraft and an excellent strategic purchase by FedEx.
Besides these 2 A350s, how many more is DL going to get this year?Jump to post
Lots of obvious dots in CenAm for B6. PTY, MGA, GUA, SAL, SAP, BZE I couldn't imagine the spread of jetBlue in Central America, after the Covid-19 crisis. Panama is very well served on Copa Airlines. Belize and Nicaragua are tiny markets for the usual B6 destinations touching Central America. Even ...Jump to post
Delta Air Lines to start New York City - San Salvador service and following the "red-eye pattern" as shown below: DL 1985 JFK 18.00 - 22.30 SAL 738 Daily DL 1984 SAL 23.45 - 0530+1 JFK 738 Daily Effective: December 19th Lucky SAL. Seems like they are the only ones getting DL love during t...Jump to post
Quick question. I was looking at Flightradar24 and noticed that, during the evening bank at IAH, there were 39 flights operated by E175 aircraft. That’s more than half of the destinations served during that specific bank. Is the utilization of the E175 being capitalized as much as possible because o...Jump to post
I was kind of hoping they would switch JFK-GUA to LAX-GUA and still start service this year, but I know that was far-fetched.Jump to post
American Airlines is planning the following regional routes: AA DFW - SJO 7x weekly. Effective: September 09. AA MIA-SJO 7x weekly. Effective: September 10. AA MIA-LIR. Effective: October 08. They might resume operations to El Salvador and Guatemala, in September. UA IAH-SJO 7x weekly is already in...Jump to post
People seem to think airlines need hubs everywhere. UA has hubs in the highest O/D, premium heavy airports in the United States. And they aren’t small hubs.
They could very well strengthen their position in Florida, but they don’t need a hub there to do that.
They should since that policy applies all of Avianca, not just AV El Salvador. United should care to align policies because they wanted to get closer to AV like they did to CM, and DL and AA should care for competitive reasons. I hope that travel in Central America will resume quickly and successfu...Jump to post
TPA got spanked by AA in the MIA-TPA route going from 7 down to 2. I fly that route quite a bit to see family (I'm just not into 4.5 hours of Turnpike driving). Those flights tended to be packed with paxs going to South/Central America and the Caribbean. No surpise that route has been whacked. The ...Jump to post

I like how UA is being opportunistic and is seizing market share in Central America. I guess having hubs at Central America’s biggest O/D cities helps.Jump to post
Does anyone have any information on real AI traffic with real aircraft and liveries? Is it being developed? I can´t seem to find a proper answer anywhere. I know flightradar is in the sim but it assigns random aircraft and liveries to it.Jump to post
Interesting to see UA beefing up service to SAL, GUA and SJO from IAD, LAX, IAH and EWR. I don’t think IAD has ever been daily and they only operated LAX from SAL for a brief period a few years ago. I took this as SAL is one of the few places Americans can go...and perhaps they also gave UA money. ...Jump to post

I think you'll see AS adding a number of routes out of LAX to support their new Oneworld membership. If they're announcing new routes now, in the midst of the worst time in aviation history, imagine what they might do when this nightmare finally ends? when this nightmare ends, they will be gate con...Jump to post
New tentative date: August 01st. Local authorities declared firmly once again about the resumption of the Costa Rican airports for August 01st. IB, UA and LH are keeping the intended dates for their returning flights at SJO. As far as I know, all the Latin American countries are even banned for tho...Jump to post
I find it interesting that many people dislike how WN boards their flights. I for one am a huge fan of the “come on in and sit wherever you want” process. I always check my carry on because I know I won’t be charged and everything is just so seamless. They are my favorite airline. All they’re missin...Jump to post
I know this is a matter of opinion, but do y’all think we have already hit the bottom already in terms of the aviation industry and the coronavirus?Jump to post

Looks like UA moved EWR - Asia flights up to resuming May 21st. Seems that Europe begins in waves starting in May. I am not optimistic about the widespread resumption of service on 5/20. I don't think United has gotten that far along in its planning. They will be doing the schedule changes in batch...Jump to post

I think Southwest is one of the best-positioned airlines to combat these terrible times for many industries. The industry will start to recover more or less at the same time that the MAX will be recertified, giving them a better hand to grip on markets whose carrier is struggling.Jump to post

This is going to make not only SkyTeam but also Star take notice in quite a few mid-sized and smaller West Cost and Mountain cities, where OneWorld will rocket to the top in total flights and destinations. True, although with UA having massive hubs at DEN, SFO plus the small smoke/hub, LAX, Star Al...Jump to post

Wow, NK FLL-GUA going up to 11 weekly and MCO-GUA going to daily. That is great news. NK will have up to 4 flights a day to GUA compared to only 5 weekly flights a little more than a year ago.Jump to post
What AA has that Delta doesn’t is MIA, the most lucrative Latin American hub. This is a solid defensive move from AA. I would like them to be more on the offense as well.Jump to post
As long as AA keeps SAP-DFW, which it seems it will be the case (pretty solid in the holidays both ways), I'd be fine. However, the AV moves is going to make flying from Honduras to the U.S more expensive as SAP-MIA and SAP-JFK will be going for good. AV’a retreat really is surprising. The only cit...Jump to post
