So LIM has been stripped off as a hub basically. I know they still have quite a few routes but it seems like it may eventually be dehubbed. Also, GUA-TGU was reinstated.

I think DFW-TLV makes United respond. They may have ignored LY's ORD-TLV but they can't ignore AA. Expect a counter announcement from ORD (more likely) or IAH. Glad to see Southwest focusing on profits and not being ashamed of closing a station. Business is business and their results reflect that. They will still serve the NYC metro area at La Guardia, where they have 30+ flights a day. Maybe there’s something in the works to gain a few extra slots?

Seems like a rather quiet year for Central American so far with the exception of Costa Rica. That YVR route to SJO and LIR is a great addition and a rather unexpected one to be honest.

Does anyone know if united has cancelled some flights during the MAX grounding? It just seems incredible that they have enough slack to cover the grounding of 14ish airplanes and still have enough slack to have interior mods and painting going on.

Before the GUA/SAL-MAD flight became daily, IB had announced it would make GUA service daily paired with MGA. Once the political downturn happened the plans changed to making the GUA flight daily via SAL. A lot of people use that flight and, from what I’ve heard, it’s GUA that fills most of the plane.

It is sad but not surprising. AV is not operating in a sustainable way and they aren’t people’s favorite airline either. Hopefully another airline comes in and adds more flights to/from GUA.

Adjust the BAQ to MIA schedule to the old one please, no one wants to leave BAQ for Miami at 3:00 AM. Whoever came up with that schedule should be fired. The timings on GUA-MIA are awful, too. Why do Avianca and TAG not fly to points in Mexico? It almost seems like there is some sort of barrier between Guatemala and Mexico. Now that many of the cheaper fares are sold out, a flight from Dallas to Maui is running about $800 a person, connecting through Oakland or San Jose. I have my doubts about the new GUA status as focus city due to the proximity of SAL. On the other hand, GUA is underserved. I’m also seeing 4 daily LAS with mainline. I always thought it was 3 daily. Could we be seeing a conservative UA comeback?
