Just a personal observation, but the lack of the winglets on the -8 adds to its sleek appearance. Like some others, I believe the -8 is the best looking of the 747s There was a time when I didn't like the stretched upper deck, but I got used to it and now it looks natural and right.

For lack of a better way to say it, the livery looks CHEAP! Come on guys. Put some color and elegant design in it. I know most A.netters will say passengers really don't care, but I'd be put off getting on an airplane that looks that bland. I'd wonder where else the airline cut corners to make a buck!

Could it have something to do with the fuel pump system on the airplane that didn't go inverted? As I recall, the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds have modifications to their airplanes that allow them to fly inverted for longer than is normal. I believe they used the F-84G. I don't recall reading or seeing pictures indicating they got the F-84F. Their primary 50's air-to-air bird was the F-86F and these were, at some point in their service with Taiwan, equipped with Sidewinder missiles.
