Just to add to my previous post: some airlines, KLM being one of those, often don't offer one way fares. So if you need a return be sure to check for both 2 one-ways as well as a return ticket.

Norwegian is the other nonstop option from AMS. They are often cheapest, but have a lower frequency. I would say the airline really doesn't matter on such a short intra-European flight. The last 2 years my family has been able to fly outside the Christmas and summer peak and we've been paying only €300-€550 for AMS-LHR-PHX roundtrip. Would they really be offering such prices if there is so much demand?

It's really not a surprise that AMS doesn't want B6 there. KLM are a puppet of Delta these days and AMS is just protecting it's largest customer. Factor in the fact that B6 would be flying from BOS and JFK, both of which are Delta hubs and you can start to see the real reason behind AMS not wanting...

I would assume the worst thing is the "perceived inconvenience" of the long change to London. People often underestimate the time spent getting to the airport and actually getting on the plane. That makes a 1 hour flight sound much more attractive than a 3:30 train journey including 45 min...

Is Eurostar at all considering adding a stop in Antwerp on its Amsterdam service? Currently Antwerp-St. Pancras is about 3:30 with a 45 min train change in Brussels, and St. Pancras-Antwerp is about 3 hours with a 10 min train change. Without the train change it would be very convenient.

The only destinations north/east of ATL and DTW served nonstop from AMS are BOS, JFK and IAD. That has always seemed minimal to me. The population is there, the economy is good and the stage length is relatively short.

2. AMS has strict noise rules, flights arriving between 23.00-06.00 hours count for 10x daylight flights. A burden operators are unwilling to carry year round. AA on ORD-AMS won't happen. Both KL and UA already serve the route and AA doesn't do much TATL from ORD anyway.

If a destination is added I guess it would be CLT. North Carolina is unserved from AMS and CLT is great for connections.

For a short flight like ARN-AMS I would simply choose the cheapest flight with the right schedule. I really see no reason to pay any extra for a particular airline in your case.
