If I am Airbus and I want to make the market for NMA as unattractive as possible for Boeing I sell the A330 at cost if required (as part of a larger deal including A321XLR of course) to avoid them ordering the NMA. IMO some airlines will see that like being offered 737MAX10 and a hypothetical 767MA...
