Re: Australian Aviation Thread - July 2023

Newcastle Airport new international terminal is officially underway. Hopefully they can attract a replacement service to AKL. I think it would be well suited for a Qantas E190 service. Perhaps Jetstar can link NTL to DPS down the line too. https://australianaviation.com.au/2023/07/newcastle-airport...

Re: New Zealand Aviation - May 2023

What I'd be interested to know is if QF are getting much traction at the AKL end. Yes, and on the JFK end for travel just to AKL/New Zealand, and not SYD/Australia. Being out and about in Auckland CBD, I can say they have been advertising the flight. I expect them to get traffic from JFK. It only b...

QF upping its game for the AKL-JFK launch, introducing bespoke pyjamas for Business Class passengers on the route, as well as new amenity kits and a new menu. This all on top of already announcing an increase from 3x to 4x weekly on the route. https://www.executivetraveller.com/news/qantas-sydney-n...

A great plane, particularly the 2-3-2 layout in Y. It enabled NZ to test new ports like DPS and SGN (and MNL, though that didn't eventuate). If only the 772s could've been kept to do the same (LAS, HKT, etc). The market is really missing something in that 200-230 seat bracket, that is cheap to oper...

i would think BKK would be a cheaper connecting point and easier to compete on price as well as able to get the 5th freedom rights more easily. Getting 5th freedom rights between Singapore and Australia shouldn't be difficult. BA currently have them and ( not sure if they still do ) but EK have don...

There's been a few comments like this I'm aware, but I flew Bonza from TSV to MCY yesterday and there's a few things of note that I think might be of interest here. Is AU Nepal that big a market? I know it’s a growing tourism destination for Aussie…. But agree even nonstop seems a stretch. Also a 21st June start date? Re: New Zealand Aviation - May 2023

QF DUD-SYD with an E190 or A220 would allow for connections, a benefit that JQ to OOL doesn't offer. BNE would offer both the VFR/holiday O&D traffic, and connections (SIN, LAX, NRT, etc) - but I imagine the market would be largely O&D anyway, and southern Queensland would probably have hig...

Also after reading the NZ thread - considering QF is investing heavily in the Auckland lounge ( well over due) and it going to compete with NZ to JFK although more heavily skewed towards point of sale AU - when the 350s arrive, could we see the current 789 swap to SYD-AKL-ORD? I'm slightly surprised the aircraft allocations aren't around the other way - the 0700 departure from HND will surely be the least premium of the four services, and it seems like the 1220 departure from SYD and 0955 arrival back would tie in best with the rest of the 789 schedule. Re: Australian Aviation Thread - April 2023

Just got caught up in the Qantas flight credit scam. I have $1900 in flight credits and rang to try and book a flight from LAX to SYD in January. There are fares available for $2100 on the website but they'll only let me use the credits on a $3100 fare. Good consumer protection laws in this country.
