Good question. Occasionally I will check out the AA vacations package and more times then not the packages involving Barbados are offered at a discount. Perhaps it is because 1). Barbados is not a Caribbean destination that first comes to mind when Americans are planning a beach vacation and 2). it ...Jump to post
Just off the top of my head and in the US, DEN, DTW, MCI, OAJ; to lesser extents PIT, SMF, and RSW. RSW, really!! :stirthepot: It is a 20 minute drive from the airport to downtown Ft. Myers. While I agree no rail service from RSW, it would take longer than driving unless the train did not make any ...Jump to post
Thought I would post something kind of light. I was furloughed from my job back on March 18 and ever since then I have been taking a hnap almost every day, usually between 1 and 3 pm for about 1 hour. It has become such an enjoyable habit that I really miss it on days when I can not take a nap. I wi...Jump to post

The Su-35 is a large fighter, they didn't look "very, very close" to me. IMHO, they looked to be pretty professional.
.I just watched a YouTube video of two Russian SU-35s shadowing a US Navy P-8 at very, very close range. Not the first time this has happened with both Russian and Chinese fighters flying too close to a P-8 so is it perhaps time to have US Navy/Marine/Air Force fighters escort P-8s when they are on ...Jump to post

With all the things going in the last 2 months I believe that Memorial Day has snuck up on most of us living in the U.S. I usually work on Memorial Day but this year I am on furlough so not working on the Holiday. One of the few things I like about not working.Jump to post
On occasion I have seen people walking to and from the cruise terminal at Fort Lauderdale to Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale airport with their luggage in tow. I would never do it but there are always those who are trying to save a buck or two by avoiding a cab or rideshare.Jump to post
Awww Look at the Special Snowflake, Rules don't apply to her. So nice to be able to have a corrupt politician on her side. My local barber down the street from me has been closed since March and he has mouths to feed and bills to be paid but he manages to apply the law. What makes this lady so spec...Jump to post
I went shopping at a Target near my home in South Florida yesterday and here is my report:
No toilet paper and paper towels
Good supply of pasta and sauces.
Some meat and chicken but being rationed...two per customer
Plenty of cold beer
Plenty of chips, crackers and bread.
This was at 4 PM EST.

A little bit off track but do FEDEX and UPS flights to and from HNL/ SDF/MEM carry a 3rd pilot?Jump to post
I was up at 6 am EST today and decided to take a look at Flightaware for aircraft over the United States. Without a lot of passenger airliners in the skies it was amazing how many planes FedEx, UPS and smaller air cargo carriers have in the skies at that time of the day.
Just an observation...
I have been doing Uber eats as a side hustle while being furloughed from my full time job. When picking up from restaurants I wear a mask and gloves and upon delivery I leave the food at the customer's front door, take a photo of the food which is sent to the customer and leave to do my next deliver...Jump to post
On west coasts flights to the Hawaiian islands would (and do) the same flight crews fly both legs on aircraft that would immediately return back to the west coast? Example: LAX-HNL round trip would be under 12 but over 8, so you would need the 3rd pilot assuming this was 757/767. If it were a DC10/...Jump to post
jim, you are absolutely correct that the policies are very different from airline to airline and from country to country, so I can only provide you with an example based on the company where I work (in the United States). Currently, my employer is offering two programs for pilots to help mitigate t...Jump to post
So, this is nothing more than a ” repatriation” flight? What is the big deal? I mean, almost every US city are seeing these in one form or another, we have seen a ton here in BOS, no big deal made out of it. Now had it been a new or a service re-start, then yeah, newsworthy, though given SAA’s curr...Jump to post
I have been reading about pilots around the globe who have been taking voluntary furloughs with the agreement that they would be paid a reduced amount of their salary in return staying home. If a pilot decides to go this route can he/she accept paid work (aviation or non aviation) and keep their red...Jump to post

In my visits to my local supermarket I have noticed a number of changes. No sliced to order deli - only pre-sliced and pre-packaged, limited choices. Fresh fish is only available pre-packaged. No singles of rolls, donuts, only pre-bagged in units of 4-6 items each. No bulk/self service nuts and rel...Jump to post
In regards to auto brakes are they always used or is there a place and time for using manual braking? I think I've seen one landing with no autobrake in the past five years. Come to PBI - it has the same exact problem. Many of the excess rental cars have been moved to the paved long-term parking area, but there are hundreds more still parked on a grass lot adjacent to the airport. There must be thousands of rental cars parked bumper-to-bumper, door handle-to-door handl...Jump to post
I'd say two chances - slim or none. Problem is, slim just rode out of town. When the restrictions were ramped up in Australia nearly 2 weeks ago to include the closure of pubs, gyms, resturants, etc, and the ban on international travel, the PM warned that this would be for at least 6 months. Now in...Jump to post
With all of the flight cuts worldwide have the staffing levels of ATC facilities (especially larger ones) been reduced? In the US at least, it wasn't for a while. Anyone want to speculate if AA will keep PHX as hub during this downturn? It's only my opinion, but it seems PHX's connecting traffic could easily be handled over LAX and DFW. I would love to hear what others think (as long as you're civil about it!). AA's PHX is in no way in jeopardy, PHX is one o...Jump to post
I was temporary furloughed last week so I have been doing Uber Eats to keep myself busy and earn a few bucks. My wife has been working from home for years so no change for her daily routine.
Fortunately we have money set aside for emergencies and our monthly expenses are low so we should okay.
