With all the things going in the last 2 months I believe that Memorial Day has snuck up on most of us living in the U.S. I usually work on Memorial Day but this year I am on furlough so not working on the Holiday. One of the few things I like about not working.

I was tracking HAL 3 today (0512) and upon leaving LAX the flight went north along the California coast before turning west to HNL just south of San Jose.

On occasion I have seen people walking to and from the cruise terminal at Fort Lauderdale to Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale airport with their luggage in tow. I would never do it but there are always those who are trying to save a buck or two by avoiding a cab or rideshare.

In regards to UA 232, it seems like the deadheading DC-10 instructor pilot who was enlisted to run the throttles was a big factor in helping the flying crew get the aircraft to the airport.

I went shopping at a Target near my home in South Florida yesterday and here is my report:

No toilet paper and paper towels

Good supply of pasta and sauces.

Some meat and chicken but being rationed...two per customer

Plenty of cold beer

Plenty of chips, crackers and bread.

This was at 4 PM EST.

FedEx and UPS rule the skies over the U.S.

I was up at 6 am EST today and decided to take a look at Flightaware for aircraft over the United States. Without a lot of passenger airliners in the skies it was amazing how many planes FedEx, UPS and smaller air cargo carriers have in the skies at that time of the day.

I have been doing Uber eats as a side hustle while being furloughed from my full time job. When picking up from restaurants I wear a mask and gloves and upon delivery I leave the food at the customer's front door, take a photo of the food which is sent to the customer and leave to do my next deliver...

I was temporary furloughed last week so I have been doing Uber Eats to keep myself busy and earn a few bucks. My wife has been working from home for years so no change for her daily routine.

Fortunately we have money set aside for emergencies and our monthly expenses are low so we should okay.
