How are articles like this passed off as news anymore?
Just more clickbait journalism.
I’ve always thought a few select JFK-SFO reverse red eyes could work. Depart JFK at 150am, 5.5 hour flight, 6 hour block. Arrive SFO at ~5am. You’ve slept a decent amount. Your brain thinks it’s 8... I think it could work with a good lie flat product. Clearly airlines disagree, but I would use a rou...

How do you get 3X? Ultimate load is 1.5X expected maximum in-service load.

Next week I fly PDX-SEA-ICN-XXX
Then next year lots of connections from Asia in SFO/SEA/LAX..... ugh.
A nonstop PDX-ICN is my main missing flight we need.
Are there any photos on real websites that show the X with engines on?
I refuse to click on social media sites like twitter.
Bet it looks niiiiicccee!
Hi Eielef- This is good information, thank you. I was trying to fly DSS-NKC-DSS, and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. It sounds like they are flying a more circular routing, so the back and forth is not an option. I hope to fly Mauritania airlines sometime next year on one of these sectors ...
Jump to postThis isn't really intended as a criticism of Kaitak personally, but implied in this sentence is the binary, us-vs-them discourse that has completely eroded sensible debate in the past decade or so. That's gotta be BA to LHR, no?
New 'major' airline.
^^^ it's nice to see the LHR flight start earlier than last year (even a few weeks) Somewhat related.... was looking at a quick last minute trip to Spain (ALC) in 10 days.... DL lists most of the PDX-AMS D1 seats as sold out. For PDX-AMS, it shows 2 left, at $15,000 each way. Assuming Nike is still ...

Answering my own question.... looks like Summer 2020 is A330-200 all season on AMS.
Interesting.
Schedules just updated on Delta.com. Looks like PDX-AMS will go A332 when PDX-HND starts. Aircraft will route PDX-HND-PDX-AMS- and so forth. How many seats is this lost to PDX-AMS? It was always going to be tricky for them to rotate the -200 when it was the only one flying from any city to HND for ...

I’d give it a week or two guys. There would have been an announcement if it was going double daily.
I’m sure it’s just an artifact of flight time change and will reflect reality soon.
^^^
When I was looking, the flight has moved back to a ~730pm departure. (from 550pm if memory serves me).
So, I am sure this is just some new/old data.
Daily all summer on 764 is a big upgrade from even two years ago!
I'm now seeing the 767-400ER on the PDX-LHR route for summer on DL.com. Going to book that for a trip in July as I believe all the planes will be modded by then with the new suites.
Sounds fancy, so, hope it's nice.

I never claimed there would be book-away due to the seating arrangements on the 787. I just said that a lot of passengers would be unhappy. When I was in French Polynesia, I saw 0 tourist kids. I agree that's just my personal observation, but like I can't find any evidence to prove that the majorit...
Jump to postYes, 2-4-2 you can nice and evenly fit 4 couples across the aircraft 3-3-3 you fit 3 couples and have 3 random seats. When I went there our flights LAX-PPT (mid-October trip) both ways seemed like 80-90% couples. I can’t tell if you are just trolling everyone or trying to be serious with an absurdi...
Jump to postdrdisque wrote:The 2-4-2 on these planes fit the overwhelmingly honeymoon and anniversary crowd well. I imagine the 3-3-3 787 is resulting in many disappointed couples who can't sit next to each other.
Why? That would be downright horrible. What is it with these ultra long range flights and everyone thinking they’re great? They suck! SYD/MEL - LAX is horrible enough. Now that you often end up in a little 787. - Boeing’s worst effort. I usually go via AKL then to LAX. And even that is horrible eno...
Jump to post^^^ Ha. That’s PDX757. D-ABUE was the reg. I’ve flown condor once before on the route. It is my last choice, but it was fine. Looks nice! The poet clearly gets what makes the airport great, and it seems they are just going to do more of that.

B) B concourse I still don’t understand.

Interesting. Have two trips to Hong Kong coming up for tourism/fun.
Haven’t had a single concern or thought once about not going. It’s interesting what scares people these days - or, perhaps, let’s them justify their own fears.
Love the city and the food, can’t wait to go back.
^^^ Yeah, you wonder if they would add 2x daily to BOI/SJC/GEG or something like that to draw more traffic to the long hauls. I mean, with a hub in SEA, it seems super strange to do that. But, they seem to have a good thing going here. Them adding LAS was about the least likely thing I imagined, but...
Jump to postPDX-LAS on Delta. That’s pretty strange.
Non hub route. And isn’t sun country starting this?
Wonder where that came from.

I am on the road at the moment. But had to do PDX-SEA-PEK this trip.
I can only hope we get PDX-ICN at some point soon to complement all the Europe service.
I do think the 787 will help us. Fingers crossed!
I have a work trip from PDX to SLO in October. Had to fly into FAT and out of SBA to make it work.
This is way better!!
I keep thinking AS could route more traffic through PDX that doesn’t need to waste seats out of SEA While a hub benefits from critical mass... if AS connection Medford-Portland-London instead of via Seattle. That frees up seats and assets for Medford-Seattle-kelowna or whatever doesn’t have a nonsto...
Jump to postI spent some time in Sri Lanka in 2017. Drove all around the island for a week. I didn’t see why people are so into it. Is it because it is far away from most things? Jump to postInteresting. BA at PDX has been a no brainer for years. Perfect 788 market. That said, BA would be target not just O&D but a lot of connections. Delta goes after O&D almost completely. What exactly could the state government do to regulate what airlines were successful or not?
Are you suggesting they could give preferential treatment to one airline and discriminate against another US airline?
PDX-AMS operating by 763 today.
Where’s the broken A333?
Yes. It definitely goes through HND. That was part of Delta’s application with DOT. It would make sense in winter- pdx-ams upgauges to a332 as well. Then they can route it and-pdx-hnd-pdx-ams. In summer, it’s more confusing as they just said pdx-lhr will be 767-400ER with the new suites. Sooo, we’ll...
Jump to postSomething I found encouraging regarding the DL Portland to London nonstop is the aircraft up-gauge to the newly configured Delta B767-400 (enhanced Delta One offering). Jump to postI saw a TAP A321 on Flightradar24 approaching EWR a few weeks ago (from OPO).

Any chance DL or KE will start PDX-ICN? I've been arguing this route is needed for the last 18 months or so. Not as good as I would have expected for peak summer, but I guess it’s first year it’s daily.

Wish we knew if the front was full.
Next year is 764, so, they are going to need to sell more seats.

So, if you are right (which I doubt), how better a way to apply those lessons than a clean sheet new plane?
Nope, not with Alaska there Which has what, exactly to do with the question? Delta is in Seattle for the long haul it seems. With the city growing rapidly, it seems infrastructure is the main constraint. Aside from Osaka (which seemed like a token offering when they pulled HKG), the network is pret...
