Re: PIT Update Discussion Thread - 2019

The ACAA board approved an $8 million dollar expenditure to add 2 acres of ramp space for the cargo carriers. I assume this will be to the immediate west of the current facilities as was discussed here a few months ago. https://blueskypit.com/2019/09/23/e-commerce-helps-fuel-cargo-bump-across-airpo...

Additionally, local news here reported that there were currently 18 still flying. Not sure how accurate that number is. Seems like there may also be a push now to enact stricter regulations on vintage airframes flying in this manner.

This is the second crash landing for this aircraft. In 1987 it overshot a runway near Pittsburgh and went over a steep embankment: https://airheritage.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/C17LEE.jpg Terrible and sad for both those involved and to lose a piece of history. Word is Trego Dugan has some new Kloaders and pushbacks at PIT. Haven’t seen them yet, but this seems to confirm the rumors that Trego is going to be BA’s ground handler. On another note, what’s going on with WFS? Ever since Trego cane they got all the new passenger contracts and WFS has only has B...

Took a look at FlightAware, seems like DL sent some some 757s to IND and one to PVD. I believe the IND planes are probably charters for the Colts as they had a preseason game here Saturday. Edit: Also if DL repositions their CDG A/C I believe it's usually sent to JFK or ATL and as far as I know they...

Yes, PIT can accommodate widebodies (albeit in a limited fashion). It currently sees Condors 763 from FRA and has seen BA 747/767's in the past. In addition there have been numerous 777 and A333/2 diversions, all of which have all been parked at the terminal. Gate C61 was made with dual jetways to a...

If I am correct the new E gates provide access to the tarmac below where Friday's is. I am not quite sure where the actual access point is but it's down on that first tier after you get off the tram and go up one escalator. Southern airways, or sun country, use these gates.

In regard to the CDG fight, I feel it makes it difficult to justify adding any international flights outside of the continent. We would all like to see an expansion but if we can't fill a 757 then how could we add flights somewhere else?
