I think that's an undercount since over 900 M109A6 Paladins were built for the US Army. The Army and Marines appear to have around 1000 M777s between them. I'm sure some are in storage or prepositioned stocks, but that's a lot of BOOM! http://military-today.com/artillery/m109a6_paladin.htm https://...

Re: Un escorted "surveillance flights..."

It is a political escalation to send fighter planes and tankers. So while possible, this would usually escalate.

Look at the Rivet Joints and E8 Joint Stars flights over the black sea. It would be easy to shoot them down, but what would happen then is clear.

I still don't get why the NH90 has so many issues. Airbus has shown that they can build helicopters, just look at the H145 series. But Tiger and NH90 are a real disaster. The A400M is improving, at least.

So, what is wrong with the NH90? Too much design by committee?

This is rather unusual, fighters over Poland are rarely visible.

The biggest scandal is that brand new planes like the Cirrus SR22 only allow Avgas 100LL. The problem are turbocharged high performance piston engines. Most other designs already allow for unleded Avgas (not to be confused with Car Gasoline, which has some issues with ethanol and can boil at higher ...

https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2022/586/oj The text is rather bureaucratic but TEL import is banned from 2025 unless excemptions are allowed. This will also be a challenge once the Luftwaffe gets the F-35. You cannot refuel it with the A400m unless the F35 gets a drogue/hose system, which is probably very unlikely.
