Thanks for all of your recommendations. I have bought a Manfrotto 475B, which suits my needs as far as I can see. I have a friend with one of these with the same set-up and it looks great to me. It is over 4kg in weight, so I won't be hiking with it!

The problem lies with the noisy E3A P&W engines. The E3D's CFM-56s are much quieter... That is why there is the night noise embargo with E3As at GK at night. The noise from them flying their final approach over the City Hotel in GK is louder than the train station right beside the hotel!

I had about 30 hours or so on it at the start of my RAF flying training- I'd flown C-152s before. It is faster and more agile. The best advice that I can give is that you should make the most of it and enjoy yourself!

Last night I had 2 photos in screening, this morning one has popped out to just be in the queue again leaving the other one being in screening.
