Re: Impact of a major Israel-Iran escalation on Middle Eastern aviation

Not even several hours after the strikes and looking at FR24 you would not know there had been a major drone and missile attack in the region last night. Basically every previously empty piece of airspace now contains flights, QR flying up through Iraq, TLV somewhat busy, AMM resuming ops. Some carr...

Re: Impact of a major Israel-Iran escalation on Middle Eastern aviation

Some early signs things are improving. An A321 landed in TLV approaching from the south over the Dead Sea, and some departures showing on FR24.
Maybe they’re satisfied that there’ll be no more attacks from Iran in the short term.

There's other ways of navigating. It can affect some aircraft systems. An aircraft isn't going to immediately crash. Pretty sure flight crew are trained about GPS failures/unreliabilities. Re: Impact of a major Israel-Iran escalation on Middle Eastern aviation

Iranian airspace is effectively closed for many operators, even before this escalation. A big reason for that was economic sanctions and the inability to pay airspace overflight fees, plus diplomatic issues if an aircraft had to make an emergency landing in Tehran, not necessarily safety reasons.
