BER has one on the top of terminal, FRA has a large viewing outdoor area too with a lens holes in the fencing. Also KRK has nice terrace behind the glass but this is not inside the terminal.

According to CH Aviation news, JAL has restarted their cargo flying by entering into a partnership with Kalitta to operate a 747-400 between NRT and ORD 3 days a week. Apparently the first flight took place August 2nd. It says the aircraft has JAL markings on it but I can’t find anything about it. ...

Yesterday DY sent first flight from BCN to ORD operated by LN-LNN. Today JL will fly (actually should be in the air) from NRT as JAL8056 (on JA836J - B788) - this might first appear JL B788 at ORD.

Bahamasair did some flights to ORD some years ago. Personally I took some pictures of B732 and B735 of Bahamasair at ORD but those flights were single charter flights. What I remember last flight of UP to ORD was like 2 years ago.

It will be challenge for everyone. Schools might be closed (tomorrow they are open so far - I'm near by ORD in Park Ridge), some of activities for kids (indoor) were cancelled due to weather. Today schools were closed (NW burbs) due to snowfall. ORD had some cancellations as well. Well, we will see....

First time when bought air tickets online (2003): ORD-IND-DTW-BUF (UA-NW) and way back same route. It was fun for me but my wife wasn't happy. Total flight time 7hr10min with layovers (direct flight ORD-BUF much much shorter)... It was really cheap.

I would recommend Imperial Hill. Late afternoon some backlit but worth to spend all day there. Moslty take-offs.
Also Proud Bird restaurant (south runways) and Ace Parking (north runways) are good for arrivals in this time of a year.

Technically if you have a scanner that has a good sensivity and are not that far from the airport (I would say less than 10 miles) you do not need anything special to receive any signal. There is a Speedway gas station west of spotting area. Few yards away (like 3 min. walk). You can try to ask on Signature Flight support building next to viewing area.

Friend of mine had similar problem after planespotting in rainy day on 7D. Camera hung few times (maybe due to humidity, who knows) and he was unable to take shots. Once we arrived home in to dry enviropment everything went to normal.
BTW he sold camera few weeks later...
