Does anyone know what N647UA (one of the older B763's in United's fleet) has been up to today and yesterday? Tracking available here: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n647ua Yesterday, it took off from Dulles at 9:30AM, spent over 7 hours (!) in a high-altitude holding pattern over Ohio, ...Jump to post

Norwegian was operating the 737-800 briefly at the start of there 737 transatlantic ops before the Max arrived. Mostly PVD/SWF-Ireland, and a few other European places. They also operated the routes with the -800 after the max grounding. Back in 2015, Norwegian also flew LGW-JFK (via KEF) on a 737-...Jump to post
I haven't flown since early March, and that flight was actually quite full (~60% LF on AA E190 ATL-LGA).
My all-time emptiest flight was in April 2019: about 15 pax on a Southwest 737-700 on a late-night BOS-ATL flight.
Just booked JFK-KEF-OSL RT for $998 in Icelandair Saga Class over the winter holiday (Dec 22-Jan 1; there are still a few more seats at that price!). There are also no change fees, which is a huge bonus in case COVID restrictions are still in place.Jump to post

My emptiest flight to date: BOS-ATL with Southwest Welcome to my latest trip report--which will likely be a lot shorter than my previous ones! On a Sunday in April 2019, I needed to make an urgent day trip to Boston to visit my elderly great uncle, after his condition took a turn for the worse. Bec...Jump to post
The crew was great, but only a special kind of crazy person would enjoy flying on that aircraft. Guilty. The layout was 2-4-2, which meant that the seat was only slightly wider than my hip. And they did not recline. I would actively avoid flying on their aircraft. Those 4 hour overnight flights fro...Jump to post
Oslo to Paris on a 767?! A rare treat with EuroAtlantic & Norwegian Welcome to my latest trip report! I came across this trip report just in time, as I'm pricing July 2020 flights from Dulles to Rome and TAP keeps coming up as far and away the best value. Awesome trip report and thoroughly enjoyed reading both part 1 and 2! Sometimes no one knows why you get upgrades, it can just be the luck of the draw but I suspect it's because you paid for a Y+ fare as this has happened to me on Qantas as well when I had no status with them. Thanks! I think you m...Jump to post
Quick question: what does the"SSSS" mean? It's an indication that I've been selected for an extra (especially intensive) security check prior to boarding. As far as I know, it's assigned randomly. It isn't always random. It stands for Secondary Security Screening Selection. All itinerarie...Jump to post

By ''pleasant flights'' i was refering to safety, not food and service as you are unreasonably assuming. My flights were calm and smooth and operated by brand new aircraft, with normal interiors. What a weird little airline. I've long wondered why Icelandair decided to take it over; seems like an easy way to burn cash.
Anyway, I've been keeping an eye out for TACV reports for a number of years now. Thank you for posting one! Looking forward to the return.

It seems a little far out to be doing an s-turn for spacing getting in to EWR. I disagree. Washington Center frequently gives EWR/LGA inbounds delay vectors as far out as Virginia/the Carolinas for in-trail spacing. It's happened to me as a passenger several times and it's perfectly routine. Here a...Jump to post

I wonder if anyone will offer a morning eastbound/evening westbound a'la NYC-LHR... Actually, Norwegian is currently operating one right now 3x weekly for the winter season. I love that you caught not only the WN 73 taking off in parallel, but also an RJ of some kind, looked like maybe a CRJ-100?, landing on yet another parallel runway. Good eye! The relevant portion starts at about the 6:30 mark. It's not for the faint of heart; you can really hear the pilots struggling at the controls. I'm so glad they made it back safe.
My memory is fuzzy, but hadn't the Air Astana airplane just come out of maintenance (sort of like the ZV accident at CLT in 2003)? You're correct. That was the airplane's flight home after extensive maintenance in Lisbon. IIRC, the aileron controls were accidentally inverted during maintenance, whi...Jump to post

It seemed as though they lowered the flaps before we reached our final approach speed, or maybe we had just hit the glideslope, causing the aircraft to pitch down to maintain altitude.
