To be honest: this sounds really weired. But on a second thought the plans are not that absurd.

Seems there is a slight chance to see one or another 747Combi flying again:

Re: Pan Am coming back ... yet again..

On a second thought it sounds not so absurd as it did at first reading. There are a few retired KLM-747-Combis sitting around and I'm quite sure they are unbelievable cheap. Between UIO and much more GYE and the US you have a serious amount of pax and freight demand (remember the announcement of JFK...

Re: KL 744 Phase out News and Discussion Thread

The Combi 747 was a marvelous airliner. I was told that in its prime (and perhaps as a 742 Combi) it had high margin ops for Air Canada. Not sure about AC's 744M which is still flying as part of Dubai Air Wing. Maybe there is a distant chance that down the road there will be an efficiency improveme...

Re: Berlin Tegel (TXL) to Close from June 1

Here's an aspect no one has thus far mentioned: is it safe to be in this new terminal? As mentioned before the terminal has been examined over and over again; no airport in the world is checked in this deep, I think (btw:it's the the same with the 737Max, if it's fly again). I also believe that thi...

I wouldn't call a 1400nm difference minimal.

It's not the difference itself, but there are to less routes for KLM in this range difference to make it count

Re: KL 744 Phase out News and Discussion Thread

Hello Experts, I am looking to fly on a KLM 744 from JFK to AMS, sometime this Spring. Does someone know of a good method to search for that particular type of plane, or does anyone know the scheduled flights? I was trying through KLM's official booking website but it leaves much to be desired. I c...

Re: KL 777 in Amarillo, TX

While they might be closer, they could also be a lot more expensive and also full. The paintshops in Europe are just fully booked. Had a few bankruptcies here (AirBerlin, WOW, Thomas Cook, Germania etc.) in the last time so a lot of planes have to be repainted. There is even an AirBerlin-Airbus now...
