At my travel conference this last weekend, Virgin had a stand there and their sales manager said that FOUR new routes will be announced this week, maybe as early as tomorrow 15th.
Let the guessing start in earnest ! I feel there will be two ex LHR and two ex MAN.

Until India re-instate E-visas for UK passport holders, I doubt there will be expansion there. ICN and code-sharing with KE for onward connections would be my guess. ICN should do well for cargo demand too.

I know Saudi Arabia wants to expand tourism and open up more, but a new airline starting with 40 A350's coming in ?? We've recently seen orders from the growing Saudi LCC's and Wizz announcing their intention to expand there as well. I hope it doesn't end in tears for someone.

Switching entirely over to an A320/321NEO's from their significant 738 fleet must send a strong message to Boeing what they think of the MAX. Jet2 will soon overtake TUI as the UK's largest package tour operator.

It will be interesting to see the range of destination intended to be served. Scandinavia and Northern Europe will be a stretch for any A321XLR, so maybe they will focus on the emerging Chinese IT market once that opens up again. Plus Russia.

Since they were ordered over a year ago now, production can't be far away. Maybe that's what our esteemed member RobK was alluding to when he said 777's from l/n 1729 are all destined for China's various cargo airlines as far as he make out.

VS didn't serve SIN when SQ had 49% of them in the past, so now with VS being in Skyteam I don't think they'll form a closer bond with SQ as they're in Star A. VS starting ICN would IMO be a tough ask as I don't think they are well known in Korea.

LHR - HNL would tie up an aircraft for approximatey 35 hours - almost twice what a Caribbean route would do. If VS feel the desire to start a new leisure route, PUJ should be a good choice, or better still MLE. Both would get good feed from the travel trade and Virgin's own holidays division. Hawaii...

Thanks to some sort of diplomatic spat, Indian e-visas have not been restored post-covid to UK passport holders. Personal biometric finger printing is now a requirement at the visa processing centre.

Virgin have announced they are permanantly closing their HKG route, and closing their office there, blaming " significant operational complexities " and the Russian overfly ban.
Clearly BA have overcome these, since they are due to restart their HKG route on 5 Dec.

Fully agree. If people stop reading the Daily Mail that would help with a more positive mindset. There is still a good pent-up demand for holidays and travel in general despite the pound's recent plunge. We see it in the forward bookings in our company. BA sees it thats why all their A380's are back...

LWO - KTW is only around 220 miles, it probably wouldn't have needed fueling up. Be interesting to see if Wizz attempt to rescue their other A320's now.
