Oh right. Have to say I now find that l/n 1146 is a much more likely candidate for YI-ATC.
Jump to postI dont recall that there's ever been UK - YUL Christmas shopping charters. Even New York I think hasnt had any for a few years, the GBP to USD exchange rate not helping.

these two will go to another european airline

Anyone knows what LN that is?
Nothing showing on Galileo GDS yet about that CA flight.
Jump to postSV will launch 6 x weekly B789 LGW - JED from 1st June. Addition to their existing LHR flights.
Jump to postBased on what I am reading on this thread I think that Saudi Arabia sounds a lot more tourist friendly than I expected. This will definitely help the new airline.
Saudi Arabia is ( very ) slowly coming round to being more liberal in matters that overseas tourists will come to expect. And it ...
Jump to postFascinating to see in future years how this will play out. Personally, I think connecting flights at RUH will be a tougher sell for the average Brit than via the existing hubs of the ME3 or TK.
Jump to postI was in Sri Lanka recently and the beach hotel I stayed at was full of Russians, mostly families.
Azur & Red Wings operate regular IT charters there.
Any VS ICN flight will follow the same flight pattern over central Asia & China that their soon to be reinstated PVG flight will use. VS / KE can code-share onward connecting flights to the various cities in Japan KE operate to, subject of course to timings allowing connections. Also ICN should ...
Jump to postA colleague of mine recently spoke with the Air Mauritius sales manager and was told that MK are in negotiations to move to LGW.
He said MK can operate daily to LGW cheaper than 5 a week to LHR.
All part of the vision 2030 project and the prince MBS's desire to make Jeddah a future tourist mecca. Expect more new routes to follow, not necessarily to Skyteam hubs.
Jump to postI would have thought diverting to KMJ would have been a better option - at least the passengers were on Kyushu. Or does KMJ have a 2200 ban too ?
Jump to postInteresting too that they keep with 737 MAX8 instead of just 737-8 like most do now as type designator painted on under the cockpit.

Was discussed here previously.
[ Flying 14 or 15 hours when many of their routes are less time makes a great argument for a shorter flight, LHR to LAX is only 11 hours as is Johannesburg. Shanghai also has many competitive connections with Emirates and Cathay among others. The closest country Virgin Atlantic flies to is India. He...
Jump to postProbably just a question of just dotting I's and crossing T's and waiting for the ink to dry on the contract paperwork.
Be interesting to see how the ME3 respond once AI start expanding to the west in ernest.
PVG should do well with cargo, let alone all the connection possibilities afforded by ST partner MU.
Jump to postI wouldn’t be surprised if new routes are announced with launch dates on 1st May and 9th July. ICN anyone? ;)
VS historically announce long lead-in times for any new routes. May 1 and Jul 9 would be too soon IMO. Wonder if they have thought about PUJ for W23/4 season, would be good for VS Ho...
Jump to postVS' agents bulletin doesnt state reason for Pakistan withdrawal, just says what a difficult decision this is and acknowledged importance of cargo and medical suppliers they brought to the Pakistan market. I think WestendRaider has the reasons spot-on.

Jump to postThe idea of Turkish flying from Istanbul to Perth is even crazier.
Not so crazy when you consider the huge connecting feed TK has at IST.
Hard to say due to the complexity of the fittings the Egyptian Govt requires. Other heads of state wide-bodies usually spend 1 - 2 years at HAM or BSL.
Jump to postA shame indeed, and given Japan's technical innovations and pride in what they manufacture, all the more surprising it has come to this sad end for the MRJ. So are all the prototype frames back in Japan now, ready to be broken up ?
Jump to postI will be passing through CMB on a Sri Lanka holiday soon and am wondering if there are any good places from within the terminal area for
a bit of spotting. Thanks.
I would have thought QF would look at PER - FRA before any CDG flight.
Jump to postThis flight was mentioned last week in the thread about another LH A346 in USH. Pretty sure it will be for the same reason, that is to feed cruise ship passengers on a turnaround.
Jump to postAt first glance I thought they had desires to fly TATL to MAN UK !!
Jump to postI think BKK would work better for Virgin than TPA as the US market is maxed out at the moment but there is potential for connections going east and direct traffic. Thailand has business & leisure and budget and premium travellers. It's also an excellent place to connect to SE Asia and Australia...
Jump to postThere's still HKG to come back, if it ever will that is. I guess joining Skyteam helped with the decision to restart PVG.
Jump to postNow with this dispute seemingly settled, it'll be interesting to see how quickly the grounded 350's come out of storage, into the paint hanger and back into service.
Jump to postThere's a few bit & pieces of info here if that helps :

Antarctica cruise passengers. Probably one of the Hapag Lloyd ships is in USH on a turnaround.
Jump to postPerhaps not easy to do operational comparisons between the JL 359's and SQ's 787 & 359R as the SQ frames do get longer run outs of 6 - 7 hrs like to Japan. When I was last in HND in late November, the JL 350's were all in service and active all day long.
Jump to postYet the administrators were blaming the delay of 17 more Q400's joining the fleet as a principal reason for BE's demise. I struggle to understand how these 17 more planes would have helped when load factors was so poor on the ones they had.
Jump to postStill those in charge walk away and the rank and file are the losers.
Those in charge will hopefully get a directorship ban from the financial authorities as being unfit to run a business.
Staff should be fine finding alternative airline work with the busy Easter and summer season ahead.
Several easyJet 319's destined for UA were prepared at Lasham and went across the pond only to return a few weeks later and stored.
Jump to postNobody will miss them. A lesson how NOT to run a regional airline. I expect the scramble for their LHR slots has already started. Good opportunity for LM and T3 for a few extra routes.
Jump to postHow's Japan's airports coping with all the harsh winter weather being experienced there currently ?
Jump to postneed or not need, WF probably had a quite suitable aircraft for the route, probably getting a OK yield with the limited amount of seats offered. However the route was not only for the O/D market between London and Bergen, but for connections at both ends. Widerøe has interline with several other pla...
Jump to postI have clients booked on WF this summer and just had a Galileo notification that their flight is now from STN. Looking at the timetable, it seems WF will only operate twice a week BGO - STN. Has the route not been profitable ? This will leave LHR without a BGO service, since neither BA or SK fly it....
Jump to postNext A339 will now be G-VEII named Queen of the Skies in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth II
Jump to postThats how it should be, others take note ( cough...BA ...). Jump to postSome nice positive aviation-related news getting reported for a change.
Jump to postMight be cheaper for Boeing to pull them from VCV storage and bring them to PAE when space permits to save on storage fees.
Jump to postAgree Zeke but the terms level headed discussion and QR / Akbar al Baker don't mix too well. I'm sure Airbus tried .
My gut instinct is that Airbus will come out of the court case favourably ( I wont use the term win ) meaning that heads will roll at QR's HQ and possibly at the QCAA.
A7-ALL is the frame that started all this paint dispute, as it was in SNN for repaint when the seriousness of the defects were discovered. Airbus has since used this frame for detailed investigation and hopefully a cause and solution found.
Jump to postWas only closed for just over 2 hrs for snow clearing work.
Jump to postSeems the Chinese are taking the entire 77F production run recently. Any non B- frames due out soon ?
Is the Chinese demand due in part to fewer wide-bodied scheduled international flights causing a belly-hold capacity shortage ?
If / when LCY opens up for flights on Sat afternoons, I doubt there will more than a handful BA E190's from leisure-destination flights coming in from holiday resorts. Wouldn't have thought the likes of LH, LX etc would operate when their little business traffic demand then.
