Re: Can planes land at DCA during large events in DC?

I recall DCA being on a hold during the WWII VE day fly over in 2015, that was called "Arsenal of Democracy"...worth googling. I'm not sure how long it lasted though...maybe an hour or so. I worked downtown and that was one of the most spectacular aviation events I observed, pretty cool si...

Re: Question about in-flight medical emergencies re: CPR through approach and landing

Last year I was on UAL GUM-HNL flight (777) sitting in economy just behind business. I think we were about 60-90 min from HNL when a passenger in business started having medical problems. There were a number of medical professionals on the flight and they started performing CPR in the aisle. I don't...

RE: 747 Fire Tanker Being Used?

I just want to echo the comments that rcair1 mentioned in his thorough post earlier. I've been on fires with most of the aircraft mentioned, except the DC-10. I haven't been impressed with the type of coverage a MAFFs provides with their delivery system. I have some opinions about VLAT (very large a...

RE: Turbulence In The Cockpit

I rarely post (especially in this forum) but have been reading the topics daily for the past 10 years. I'm enjoying the thread and thought I would show a little thanks to those up front. I travel a lot for work and personal (mostly international). I was flying out of <acronym title="Tokyo - Narita I...

RE: Rare Takeoff/landing Patterns At Major Airports.

I'm not sure how rare this is, so would be interested to hear from others. I was listening to liveATC, IAD tower, this past Monday, and noticed they cleared Air France for 30. I've heard plenty of takeoffs for ...

RE: Should US Congress Fly Only In Coach?

If you ever fly out of DCA (usually my home airport) on a Thursday afternoon, they are loads of them on the plane. I've seen them in aisle, middle, and window throughout the plane with people sitting next to ...

I was in T3 by the gates when this happened, which is a train ride away. I was on UA898 to IAD and I had no idea that it occurred. Our flight was dela...

Chief Pilot - A Day In The Life Of...

MODS: If this isn't appropriate for this forum feel free to delete or move. Hello, I very rarely post and this may be my first "New Topic" (longtime lurker). I did a search and didn't see anything about this topic. I woke up this morning thinking about the role of a chief pilot (I think way too much...

RE: Computerized Flight Planning/Loadsheet Online

I can't believe I'm posting in Tech/Operations. I read the forum daily but just as an enthusiast and observer. I use Vroute, which has a pay and free version. It's not too bad. www.flightaware.com: You can get real world flight planes from th...

I was in Haiti,Port au Prince, about a day after the earthquake and the US military was using a table near the taxi way as the "tower". It was quite a site. The FAA brought in their trailer a few days later.

I do not post very much (lurking for many many years) and this is the first time I started a thread. I did a quick search and don't think this has been posted. http://www.usda.gov...

RE: P2 Neptune Firefighting Plane Crashes In Utah

After lurking for about 7 years and reading airliners.net daily; I've decided to sign up. What a shame that this thread is my first post. I still do a little firefighting with the US Forest Service during the summer and have an incredible video of Tanker 11 doing a drop on a fire that I was on in ea...
