Sad to hear about RP-C7777. I was touring the Boeing plant in Seattle in 2009 (IIRC), and I saw her there as she was in her final stages of production. She was all dressed up and getting ready to fly to Manila in a few days’ time. I wish her many more years of flying!

IIRC, UA used to have 2 flights a day between GUM and MNL. One flight in the morning and another in the evening... aside from the ROR/Chuuk flights.
Would they want to try CRK instead? There’s probably more slots available there, and it’s not too far from Manila.

Just wanted to confirm what a previous poster said - in the late 80’s, early 90’s, Swissair flew between Brazzaville and Kinshasa, too. It was a triangular routing from/to Zurich. Probably a DC-10 or MD-11.

Chicago O’Hare has Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 5 (International Terminal)... it doesn’t have a Terminal 4.

The only reason I know it’s “missing” a terminal is because I’m an Avgeek. Ordinary folks don’t seem to mind nor notice...

DTW itself may not have much traffic to/from MNL, but there’s a lot of connecting passengers from the Midwest who fill up those planes. Maybe they’ll be funneled through MSP or even SEA?
Or like what another poster said, passengers might be put on KE metal for the TPAC segment.

DEL flight timings don’t allow for much connectivity to Australia or US/Canada, and for that matter anywhere else. PAL still seems disinterested in building up MNL as a transfer hub. To catch SR’s then new MD-11, I flew LAX-ZRH (via GVA) on the MD-11, then after an overnight stay, continued my journey ZRH-MNL (via BOM) on the 743. That was a long way to get to the other side of the Pacific Ocean!

More recently, I flew MNL-SIN (772), then SIN-SFO just to ride on the A350.

Would AKL ever consider having a USCIS Pre-clearance facility? If they do, then connecting in ORD (or any other US gateway) would become a breeze!

I flew from DUB to ORD a couple of months ago and am still amazed at the difference it made to land in ORD as a domestic flight!
