Aviation is still a smaller contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and climate change than meat and dairy production. Perhaps better to tackle that area first.Jump to post

Would love to see a SCL - PER trans-Antarctic flight by someone someday. They could just up sell all the window seats over the southern summer... Not a hope of approval by anyone unless & until an airline develops a plan for passenger recovery off Antarctica. Don't hold your breath, that is lik...Jump to post

The reason STN has so many low-cost flights is because of high costs and limited expansion room at LHR and LGW. People will endure the longer distance to STN to get cheap fares. However, EWR and LGA are close to New York City and have a wide range of LCC/ULCC competition available (recall the FAA re...Jump to post

To go back on topic, the UA website has an interesting solution: they have entirely removed references to China, period. Go on the destinations list and they will just write “Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei” rather than “Beijing, CN” or “Taipei, TW.” By comparison they write “Tokyo, Japan,” “Sa...Jump to post
I’m not seeing ORD-MOB after August on the UA site. Does it usually disappear seasonally or is it gone for good? I commute out of MOB and in the past it has been year round daily service except on Saturdays which they eventually added Saturdays to the schedule lately. So this is new. PNS-ORD has al...Jump to post

As with many such questions on this site we get into two particular inane arguments: 1. “City” population based on municipal boundaries which is meaningless for determining air traffic and market size 2. Whether or not an airport is locaed within a city’s boundaries, also irrelevant So maybe we shou...Jump to post
lydh wrote:Stupid move to choose EWR, if UA's hub there was indeed a factor. Wouldn't Star Alliance passengers west of New York just connect in LAX or SFO and fly United nonstop to SIN?
Is UA ORD-YQB a seasonal or permanent drop? I would imagine that route wouldn't have too much winter demand.Jump to post
I'm shocked IAH-HAV is getting increased, I would have thought that would have performed much worse than these Mexico routes.Jump to post
Has anyone ever flown EZE-TLV nonstop? It would be nice if LA had 3 weekly flights from GRU and 3 from EZE.Jump to post
Nice! Just curious what are the main business links between South America and Israel? I know there are large Jewish populations there but that’s not enough to sustain a longhaul flight.Jump to post
JFK was formerly part of the club during the days of TN service to PPT (generally accepted as part of Oceania, though Hawaii is North America).Jump to post
GRU is 400nm further than EWR. Depending on how close EWR is to the edge of the ULR’s performance in SQ’s configuration that may not necessarily be a “marginally further” distance. That is approximately another hour in flight. It's worth pointing out that SIN-EWR is a longer route than the gc route...Jump to post
My reais are on GRU. SQ has served the route in the very recent past which indicates a lucrative market. The very circuitous routing via BCN and the Brazilian recession did not help. However, the route should work now with a nonstop. Lots of business traffic to SIN and the rest of Asia.Jump to post
Also, does Scottsdale even have commercial flights? Would they do this for private jets to Canada?Jump to post
How would this work? International flights out of the US depart from the main domestic terminals. I can't imagine US airports would completely redo their terminals just to accommodate a few Canadian flights. Would the CBSA officers just wait at the boarding gate to check documents? Or use biometric ...Jump to post
I noticed that UA has seasonal service from ORD to FAI, but no flights from the western hubs (LAX, SFO, DEN). Is there a particular market from ORD but not from the West Coast? Most Alaska tourism is by cruise but FAI is very far inland. How are loads and yields on ORD-FAI usually?Jump to post
If this works could QF try a SYD-JFK-LAX-SYD routing on the 787 if PER-LHR works? Flying SYD-JFK eastbound would be shorter with the strong tailwinds though westbound seems unrealistic for now.Jump to post
People here mention that HKG-SIN would be convenient for connecting from the East Coast as it’s shorter than going via LAX or SFO. That’s true however it forgets that UA has a JV with NH who can send EWR/ORD passengers from NRT to SIN thus removing the need for UA to serve SIN from HKG or anywhere e...Jump to post
Main reason is ATL is to DL what DFW+CLT+MIA are to AA. Having more than a single hub in the South/Southeast gives AA much more flexibility.Jump to post
With AA seasonally flying from DFW and LAX, in addition to PHX, to FLG, is there potential for other airlines to add service? Maybe UA to DEN and SFO, and DL to SLC for a start? Seems like the airport could handle a lot more service given its proximity to one of the country's most popular tourist sp...Jump to post

Awesome. I’ve been calling for this for years, makes sense given the India traffic.
However I don’t understand why they keep EWR-ATH and JFK-MXP. Seems like they are charging very cheap fares on these and could improve yields and connectivity with an all-nonstop 3x JFK 2x EWR operation.
There's a major geographic factor that no one has touched on. The USA is much closer to a wide range of tropical destinations than Europe is. Most states are within 3-5 hours' flight time to Mexico and the Caribbean (or Hawaii from the West Coast). Europe on the other hand doesn't have such tropical...Jump to post
I was looking at EVA Air's mini-website for Hello Kitty livery 777 routes, specifically their 777 Shining Star that operates ORD-TPE-SIN-TPE-ORD. The Brazilian economy must be improving then I guess if there's demand for a leisure flight?
Nice add, but the season seems strange. Don't Brazilians have more vacation time in Southern summer, plus the temperature in Las Vegas is more tolerable then no?
