Re: Irish 10/20: Bad news on the doorstep

An update on EI's SNN ops based on current schedules (subject to change): EI plans to resume a once-daily LHR rotation by a ORK-based aircraft operating a W-pattern (i.e. ORK-LHR-SNN-LHR-ORK) from 7th December. Hopefully it goes ahead as scheduled. Interesting to note as well that the EI111 and EI1...

Interesting find on the Aer Lingus route map on their website. It shows routes from Cork to BRU and FCO. Are these expected to be launched soon?
It also shows a connection from SNN to DUB?

Re: Irish 1/20: 2020 Vision!

With the 757 gone from SNN, will their A320/A321LR flights be crewed by DUB and ORK pilots or will they set up a base at SNN now all based aircraft have a common type rating?

Re: Irish 10/19: Winter is coming

There are no Airbus pilots based at Shannon. The 321LR flights may be operated from the Cork based pilots in the future. That’s a possibility alright, didn’t even think of it. It could easily be incorporated into their 5 on 3 off roster. 2 days short haul in Cork and then leave SNN on their 3rd day...

Re: Irish 10/19: Winter is coming

EI cabincrew are normally hired for the Dublin base now but can bid to transfer to Cork or Shannon if a vacancy becomes available as these bases only have enough crew to cover their local flights . So it’s generally a lifestyle choice by them. They can be rostered from another base with their trave...

Can Cork based crew be rostered to fly from DUB or SNN too? For example, could a Cork based crew member bid for a long haul flight from SNN on the A321LR for example?

EI135/4 SNN-BOS-SNN has been scheduled for the last few years as 12:00-13:50 and 19:30-06:20 but from the 29/03/20 the schedule has changed to 13:30-15:25 and 18:55-06:00. EI111 is also scheduled to leave 5 minutes later at 12:50 but scheduled to arrive earlier at 05:40 instead of 06:00. The aircraf...

It will spend a few days in the hanger for customisation, safety equipment, lighting etc. before apparently entering service on 01 October to Heathrow. I believe the next transatlantic route for the aircraft is actually SNN-BOS at the end of October, followed by DUB-PHL in early November. It was al...

Re: Irish 6/19: Dublin's bubblin' ...

Interesting to note that the EI380/1 from SNN-LHR will be operated by the A321LR from 29th March. The other 2 rotations are operated by the usual A320. This could also allow an A320 to operate an AGP or FAO flight in the morning and be back in time for the 12:25 flight to LHR, instead of an ORK or D...

Re: Irish 6/19: Dublin's bubblin' ...

What’s the likelihood of one of the SNN-based A321LRs being used on the early-morning (EI380/EI381) rotation? This would free up an A320 to be used elsewhere and the afternoon/evening SNN-LHR flights could be operated on a W-pattern from DUB. The downside to this of course would probably lead to do...

Aer Lingus is back to operating Boston year round from SNN. A321LR to be used on the 135 from the 27th of October! Will they be introducing an A321 from Shannon to operate the JFK route too? It’s strange that they would have two Airbus and one Boeing aircraft based in Shannon.

Re: Irish 12/18: December Dreaming ...

Hi all,

Does anybody know if EI will open a pilot base in SNN? They’ll be using their own metal once the A321LR comes in for the flights to JFK and BOS and the LHR flights will be an A320 which will result in an all Airbus single aisle base so surely that would be reason enough to open one?

I suspect that they will use them on high volume routes within Europe. Just because they have long range capability doesn't mean they are going to use them on long haul routes.
