Re: Airbus pushed for A220-500, replacing A320CEO / 737-800.. ?

Boeing would have to react to this and make a 737-7.5 MAX, as the A320 shows that there clearly is a market for a plane between the 737-7MAX and 737-8MAX. MAX7 is 1.93m longer than B737-700. It could carry 2 more rows of seat (12 seats) than B737-700. It was stretched mostly because of Southwest to...

Don't know if it's the camera angle or not, but the plane came down at a really step angle in that landing video. And the pilot pull back just a second before the plane experience the Ryanair landing.

Re: Airbus pushed for A220-500, replacing A320CEO / 737-800.. ?

In my opinion, their decision would come down to this. Would Airbus play a waiting game for the next technological advancement such as electric, hydrogen or radical fuselage and wing design until 2040? If they are willing to wait till then, A220-500 would be the band-aid solution to keep their compe...

Why should Airbus do this again? Profit. I can't believe how much this forum ignores the possibility that emerging climate policy could substantially pressure aviation as a whole. Cutting relative fuel consumption is absolutely necessary to keep aviation growing. Slowing development just because of...

What is curious about that graphic is that the seat count increase seems to have been concentrated in the 2000-2010 period, and it seems to have tailed off since then. Is the data for A320's only? That might be explained by a ceiling being hit. If it is all narrowbodys, then it paints a different p...

Re: Airbus pushed for A220-500, replacing A320CEO / 737-800.. ?

The concept of A320.5 is a simple stretch by adding 3-4 extra frames into A320. They wouldn't increase the MTOW, modified the wings or change the engines. It's a really simple plug and play solution to increase capacity and provide better fuel efficiency. This would increase the capacity by 12-18 p...

And do they really need to use B787-10 to Vancouver instead of B787-9?

Re: Airbus pushed for A220-500, replacing A320CEO / 737-800.. ?

Significant fuel savings would be the only way to beat MAX8 and slows its momentum. The A320NEO is a bit lighter than the 737-8, has ~4% better sfc LEAPS because of its higher BPR, that have lower thrust rates too. 737-8 burning less fuel than a A320NEO would be a miracle IMO. I doubt if Airbus wil...
