We did it in the Falcon 20, well the original one we had with CF700-2D2 engines. I want to say it was normally 20ish seconds to 100 knots but that's fuzzy. We did standing takeoffs as SOP in them.
Jump to postI remember some guys in the 727 holding the nose off while going to idle reverse. It was strictly a no no to hold the nose off anytime for all the reasons mentioned above. Hard on the nose gear, We had a guy do it on the 727 in 2009ish and it was a bit tail heavy and too much reverse thrust. Fell o...
Jump to postA Saturday only seasonal DTW-ANC flight would be the addition that would be most beneficial. AS runs 2X in the summer so I'd say that's pretty good loyalty it's on par with the other AS outstations from SEA. without feed on the DTW side, DTW-ANC wouldn’t do well. I’d be curious to know what the num...
Jump to postWhats NKs top route? Top route is ATL-FLL believe it or not. Reading this surprised me, is the ATL-FLL route top based on lf, yield, total pax count? I'd be interested to see the T0 for Spirit's top routes. Somebody use to pull those every quarter for each airline and post but haven't seen that dat...

These are not solid adds beyond BNA The once weekly long haul stuff out of LGA has been tried by DL AA US HP and ATA...possibly more. Doesn’t work. You need relevance in the market. NK has none. Fly this out of EWR or JFK where they belong due to perimeter rules. Plenty of space at both places...an...

Jump to postI saw pictures of the wing a couple weeks ago when it happened and you can tell they for sure just sprayed Type IV on it without deicing first with Type I. Criminal.
Jump to postI heard it was AirTran's old operations center. Lots of the maintenance and dispatch people are Floridians, and likely wouldn't want to move to BNA. No, it's a new facility. The article that was posted up thread mentioned that Spirit will be utilizing AirTrans old NOC which is located at MCO (next ...

Yikes, was it in the climb? Looks like it happened before they got to 410. Ironically looking at my FB memories I was flying a 727 near ABQ 9 years ago when we hit some moderate wave. Someone north of us hit much worse stuff..... Mountain wave was pretty bad over CIM this evening, we had +/-200' and...
Jump to postIf someone planned to fly it, rather than keep it as a static display, why wouldn't he just buy a 763ER instead, the way the Google guys did? (I guess they bought a 762, actually.) FedEx, UPS and the U.S. Air Force will create a demand for 767 parts for another three decades. As an enthusiast, if I...
Jump to postWe operate out of SNA - a 1738m runway - with 319/320 aircraft. We are prohibited from using 321 aircraft. In both 319/320 aircraft, takeoff is TOGA flaps 3 packs on. Jump to postAhh, wasn't sure which comment it was. I was there late 2019 and didn't notice any issues either. The down escalator on the parking/rental car/hotel shuttle side at the North has been broken and out of service for over a year now. A couple weeks ago, one of the 2 elevators over there was broken as ...
Jump to postNice schedule Kavok, thats what i was hoping to see. A little rundown of where we are at now , which shows what were missing, and then as carriers add it could be fun. Jump to postI just hope they fix the darn escalators at the North. Ridiculous.
Jump to postProbably remove it, put it on CDL and finish up Peak without it. Small weight penalty and small fuel burn increase of a couple percent won't be a factor I'd imagine if it's just staying domestic.
Jump to postThe 727's I flew had the original Boeing door, no lock. On the freighter Falcon 20's I flew we had a sliding door that helped keep it warm up front.
Jump to postklm617 is right here. If DTW was meaningful to NK, they would've at least added BNA by now, a market that can certainly handle a low cost and daily A320 year round. Much of what I see going on here is bitterness towards Southwest and Alaska, which leads me to think current leadership is more focuse...
Jump to postDTW's getting the shaft now. Well, times aren't exactly great. Stuff will come back quickly though once the rebound starts. They've barely been interested in ORD & DFW in the last few years. DFW, IAH, ORD, & DTW seem to be seeing the door under new management with no adds and some decreases. C'mon meow, DTW had stuff added in the good times, you know, not 2020. An additional seasonal daily to LAX, seasonal SAN, ...
Jump to postOne of those markets are in your username, SLC is a gap for NK. I feel like LAX, LAS, MCO, EWR, & BWI would be a decent selection to start. MCO, EWR & BWI highly unlikely, LAX, LAS, ORD & DFW are more realistic They've barely been interested in ORD & DFW in the last few years. DFW, ...

Jump to postI know there are a lot of B6 fans here on a.net, and they do have a nice domestic product the couple times I've flown on them, but I think this is a terrible decision on their part to cross the Atlantic. I just don't think the money will be there.
Jump to postI suppose you could but you can't compete and you have to watch your flying hours.

That might be hard to do. I once flew NK PHL to DFW and was excited to see that the equipment was a neo, only to go to the airport and have it substituted for a ceo last minute. The neos do routinely come to ACY also. Well that’s a bummer. I was slated to fly BNA-TPA and back on one (two), but Spir...

Jump to postNK certainly isn't a tiny player at LAX anymore - but do they even have more than a few CUTE gates? LAX-SJD will be NK's first international service from LAX in quite some time, however. Jump to postTypically the FLEX temp is usually lower(more thrust)on the A321 versus the A320, but we also can weigh a lot more. Jump to postWish NK would come in and serve both SLC and BOI. Would like to see service to LAS and LAX from both airports. Jump to postI’ve been noticing that NK has been changing up the tail numbers of its A320s. I’ve seen N652NK twice and I saw the “3652” at the rear door and nose gear door. Jump to postThe train isn't broken but the down escalator at the North over on the car rental bus/parking lot side has been broke for like a year. It wouldn't be DTW without a downed escalator.

Jump to postYeah I always figured on 12,000 pounds the first hour, 10,000 the 2nd hour, then 9,000 every hour after that. Upwards of 1000 pounds for taxi and takeoff. We could generally upload 25,000 pounds of freight and still top off in the -9 powered planes. We would dust off both ends of the runway for sure...
Jump to postI can’t be sure, but I think every operator propped up or dropped the tail stair at the gate. Maybe the ballast fuel was airline specific for overnight or longer-term parking. We always did a ramp load of 30,000 pounds whenever we left the plane parked overnight on the freighters. Kept them from we...
Jump to postMy former neighbors brother was John Weikle, the Founder. He has since moved away but before he left he had mentioned his brother wanted to start a similar airline again at some point. I was still flying freight and not for a ULCC yet but I really wish I could pick his brain now!
Jump to postIt does seem a bit counterintuitive but there is logic to this. In case of a filter clog, there must be an alternate air path that bypasses the filter. On the 152 this is provided in combination with carb heat. The reasoning is that one of the more likely causes of a filter clog is icing, and if yo...
