747-200 definitely.
The few 727s still in service are not actually the latest versions/variants. Anyone can confirm?.

It's really impressive. 11 flights a day, most of them A380s.. Not bad. As for the endless debate about STN being "posh "enough or whatever, I'm sure it attracts its fair share of people from the financial community. Maybe not all of it, of course, but a steady share. Both FR and U2 have a...
Jump to postI did not imply that.. I just said it looks good.. No big deal anyway.

Airlines do retro liveries mostly for fun. Just as humankind has always had the reflex to decorate its surroundings (caves, walls, furniture), special markings are almost as old as aviation, just like for cars. Today retro liveries are of course also used to celebrate the company's heritage, and the...
Jump to postI gotta say the current UA livery should be one of the easiest (and long overdue) livery to improve. It's just so awful..
Can't wait until April to see it..
The one posted by InnsbruckFlyer is a major improvement, I must say..

Is there even a case in which a tech or medical diversion caused a serious diplomatic or security incident?.. I don't think there's even one actually. You'd probably need to go way back in time, but even then I'm not sure it ever happened.. Boredom usually becomes the worst part I think. Regards. B8...
Jump to postIt's usually dealt with common sense. No different than the long-haulers which have to divert to a very sparsely populated location in Russia on a regular basis or the well documented cases which had to divert to Iran. Jump to postFNC saw a 747 land as part of the then-new runway certification process.
I do not see QR flying there anytime soon though..
Good additions though. Seven is pretty significant.

LUX: 747-8F launch customer.
So they're here to stay basically.
Excellent to compare 747-400F and 8F noise levels, which are pretty large and noticeable.
Pretty busy cargo airport for those who don't know..

I also have a long name; first name, plus three middles and the last. Never had any issues with airlines, although I sometimes get a comment from a bored official "pretty long name, huh" or something like that. I've had more confusion over this with telecoms and utilities for example, but ...
Jump to postI remember MH 370 very vividly as it was the week I started my new job. Makes for a good reference. I believe it will eventually be found, obviously. Jump to postIt's true. The changes of catching a widebody intraeurope are pretty slim. It's always been like that, compared to say, the US or Japan. Jump to postGood thread.
i would expect KWI-DXB to be up there...
A gazillion daily frequencies on widebodies.
It's pretty difficult to tell though. Mature markets like Europe and the US might also have some.
Domestic routes with multiple frequencies..

Excellent news.
Although not the capital, the Porto region is pretty important economically and demographically, with, indeed, a dense manufacturing and industry network that may play well with the cargo side of things..

LHR-HKG in the not too distant past. Were passengers on this flights treated exactly like they were flying up to EDI or MAN, or were they any extra checks at either end? Jump to postI've been posting less and less because I don't want to pick arguments, but just to conclude. Sorry about the inconvenience. Jump to post.. Interesting. I've always thought that XCR is well located and accessible. I know for a fact many people in the neighboring countries and France itself would use it if interesting. Jump to postNo problem SQ317. I've honestly thought about that too (moving all the other carriers to DWC), but didn't want to mention it. You know what I think? That may even not be necessary. Jump to postThanks for the stats SQ317.. That pretty much kills DWC in the foreseeable future, no??.. I mean, just do the maths. 24 hour ops, expansion to 118 M. Movements have flattened. Jump to postIt's pretty interesting, but I think they may have reached "cruise mode" and are fine with it. Jump to postConcorde was actually meant, and in the end it was, economically viable for airlines, and it was originally designed to be produced in larger numbers. What killed it were the oil shocks of the early 70's. "Economics" and "Concorde" placed not far from in each other is a fairly hu...

Good question. Only Saudia bought it? The 797 isn't green lighted yet and I would be very cautious to say it will be. Bread and butters are called 737s and A32x series, not risky clean sheet designs. "Regional" by Chinese standards should mean feeder flights of less than 3/4 hours, I think...

Just to add that I'm pretty sure I already saw an airline bragging about SET in an inflight magazine if I'm not mistaken. The point about the possibility of being a mini EK is a valid one though.. LIS is indeed a strategic location and it's a pity they do not take more advantages out of it. You are correct. The problem at LIS is space, and more specifically aircraft parking spaces.

Interesting question. Is it all about the maintenance program? (!) Is there some kind of physical or software difference? Like you can order a car ( say a VW ) and you have two states of tune of the same engine? How much does an ETOPS 737 cost over a "standard" 737? Thx... Regards B8887

I'll put the question another way as I think this topic has not been covered that much. How does the cargo market differ from, say, the early 1990's before the e-commerce boom as we know it today?
