Large cities: DEL, BOM, BLR, MAA, HYD, CCU Tier I: DEL, BOM, BLR Tier II: MAA, HYD, CCU, AMD, COK Tier III: Rest of cities (PNQ, TRV etc.) And AI has only one HUB: DEL. For AI, BOM is no longer a hub, just a focus city. Hmm...I would have put MAA at Tier I and PNQ in Tier II but no big deal.

^^ $1,600 is par for the course for a summer ticket booked under or about 2 months before travel. $1,400 is not completely unexpected fare to pay for US-India. I have paid anywhere between $1,300 - 1,700 in Y for ORD/ATL-BOM. I generally book my tickets about 3 months in advance to India.

I agree that BOM is NOW a nice airport. But 17-20 years ago (I am talking when Centaur hotel was alive and kicking), the terminals were dungy, stinky and mosquito/roach/rodant infested.
