This QF vs PER situation seems to be deteriorating. Dodgy escalators? Slow airbridges? Looks like the Alan Joyce/Nev Power catchup has achieved absolutely nothing.

EK returning second daily to PER seasonally over chrissie.
ACT Government is trying to lure a direct flight between CBR and China. https://www.canberratimes.com.au/canberra-news/andrew-barr-in-china-looking-to-woo-airlines-to-canberra-20190325-p517fv.html My thought is other than HKG, there's no port in China where this route will be profitable without sub...Jump to post
I agree with qf789 that there's too much focus on PER with the VA MAX, and too much on new destinations/routes as well. The MAX would of course reduce cost (and therefore increase yield) on longer sectors such as to DPS, but also to DRW and CNS. Not to take away from the obvious possibility of supp...Jump to post

Anyone know how the sri lankan airlines flight to MEL is going? Loads seem fine, but I wasn't sure re yields. Just thinking - the UL route to CMB and the Air India routes to MEL/SYD combined = 33 000 passengers In Nov. Its enough to fill two A330's a day back and forth. I think they have probably ta...Jump to post
I was just talking about the new perth airport train station and the proposed link from the station to the terminal - looks like a overpass rather than a seamless underground pedestrian link (which is what i'm generally used to elsewhere, eg SYD). Friends suggested that the airport may eventually go...Jump to post
Whats the deal with the PER-HBA frequency? Announced as 3 weekly, was expanded over summer, but I see its still 4 weekly, seems back to 5 weekly first week of feb, 4 weekly for the second week and 3 weekly thereafter. Are VA just playing it by ear and adding frequencies a few weeks in advance if the...Jump to post
sigh.... so many rumours. I guess I did kind of invite this. I don't even know if there is an avenue for the WA govt to mediate, unless both parties wanted that (and it certainly doesn't sound like that). The federal government which has responsibility for aviation is going through a particularly us...Jump to post
There are many aspects in this feud, the gate space is just one of them. I was also trying to point out that its not all PAPL, QF is as much to blame for this as PAPL. I do get the feeling that QF are trying to back out of the agreement made pre PER-LHR that included them moving over to T1 by the e...Jump to post
Now see the issue, there isn't the available gate space, Gates 21-24 are only suitable for narrowbodies, so operating a number of flights so close to each other is outside of what the terminal can handle. For this to work some scheduling changes need to be made, if both the SIN and JNB/AKL flights ...Jump to post
Hi all, I had a question re BTRE international figs For airlines that do stops on their way to aus (I'm mainly thinking of EK, for example their flight to Brisbane via Singapore) - does it get counted in the Singapore or Dubai column in the "city pairs" section for brisbane? Or would it be...Jump to post
For what it's worth I had drinks with people close to the Perth hub strategy about six months ago. Gist of it was that it's hard to see CDG or FRA being launched in the short to medium term, although they're happy with how LHR has worked. QF would like CDG and FRA from PER, but without the current ...Jump to post
Re PER, two questions. - As many of you will know, PER international doesn't really have walled off gates with designating separate seating /security (what you would see in the middle east or se asia). Is this the case in other australian international terminals? - On another WA forum, someone has s...Jump to post
Sorry QANTAS your JNB flight needs to depart from T1 to make the train line viable.... but oh we won’t build you the terminal we promised you for your domestic flights to operate next to the train line.... Seems Perth Airport and Qantas are talking again. https://thewest.com.au/business/aviation/paris-nonstop-flight-on-perth-airport-agenda-ng-b88981686z I think the fact that their renegotiating the T3/T4 domestic terminal lease is critical - and it certainly puts all the recent blustery headlines int...Jump to post
Mixed on this one. I think the area could sustain a Jetstar flight once a week from Sydney and Melbourne BUT I sort of like that it’s hard to get to. Last thing I want is the region over run with tourists :-) I've heard that the drive down there from PER actually is an attraction in and of itself, ...Jump to post
Do you think we'd see QF cancel PER-LHR when they get aircraft that are capable enough to do SYD/MEL/BNE-LHR? Not at the moment seeing most of the passengers are ex-Perth Isn't it impossible to know ...Jump to post

Interesting that ADL seems to be performing stronger than PER for CZ. Good news for ADL. In all honesty this isn’t much of a surprise. Flying BNE/AKL-anywhere in Hong Kong/China/Japan via Singapore is geographically stupid. It's almost the same distance to China as it is to Singapore. Guess what? People backtrack. Shocking, I know. CZ carried 9359 passenger to Perth in Feb. Works out to about 230 / flight. Seems like a LF of around 75-82% depending on which a330s they used. - My point is that 1000 less is still less, given the same frequency (and I presume the same aircraft type I think their all using A332s?) More PER CZ cuts. It was reduced to 4x weekly at end of March and further down to 3x weekly for a few months before goibg back to 5x weekly from August. little bit surprising re EY,
Perth had slightly more EY passengers than Brisbane for Jan and Dec, maybe yields were awful. 789s for both carriers I think. That's despite BNE not having a QR service as well.
Nice gift for QR as they have the a380 from May.
Just looking at the international figures for Dec.
Qatar's ADL service LFs seem that they are a bit low.
The A350-900 - 287 seats...daily flight for the month works out to 17794 seats. They had 12123 passengers - LF68%. Have I worked this out right? Seems a bit low for peak season?

Thanks. Yes agree - that's why I am kind of hoping that the three parties can whittle the cost down (so it doesn't affect the airports ability to consolidate everything at T1) and then all 3 parties can try and cobble together a funding arrangement. The airport is the only group that can deliver the...Jump to post
I think part of the issue is the cost - 25 to 45 million seems like a lot for what is meant to be a temporary arrangement. The benefits are no let tangible. The airport is a business just like qf - it gets 30-40k passengers a day, so this seems like a very large outlay for what is a small added bene...Jump to post
