Delta from I forget where to LAX. Warning: blasphemy ahead. It was just another crowded flight on an airplane that didn't impress me one way or the other.

Re: What is your favorite widebody aircraft?

Generally speaking, the 767 and the 330. I've been on three 747s. One was comfortable, (EVA) the second one was brutal due to the cabin fittings (some strange layout Delta had in business in some sort of herringbone pattern). The third was wonderful, quiet, smooth. The filthy and worn interior subtr...

Re: What airliner do you wish you could have flown on but never got the chance?

One prop airliner that I am glad I missed was the Canadair Northstar, a version of the DC 4 with Rolls-Royce Merlin engines instead of radials, where the cabin noise was above 90 decibels, enough to impair hearing. I wonder how many Trans Canada employees suffered hearing loss working on them, not ...

What makes us think that LM is a better run company, the F-35 program? A further question to be asked: were it not for the bottomless pockets of the US taxpayers, would LM even exist? I really can't think of any products they make that someone would willingly buy. Yes, Boeing is in the defense busi...

DC6B (from the "if it looks good it will fly good" days)
DC8 Stretch in polished aluminum
720 200
The wide twins are all of a muchness but I like the 767 400

At the very bottom of the list is any 3-holer from MDD.

Following on rjsamson's semi-off topic, I have one of my own. I have been on some two lane roads in middle of who knows where, and there it is, out about 300 or so yards from the road. One of those "drive in restaurant" shaped VOR stations with the cone roof. How are they powered? A ICE an...

The 777. An amazing engineering feat, but noisy in general, and makes some at-times disconcerting noises on climb-out, depending on where in the plane you are sitting. On the other hand, I reluctantly stepped aboard an EVA 330 from NKK to Taipei, prepared to hate it. Even cramped into coach, I loved...

What will airlines do when Boeing replaces the 737?

Fellow A'Netters, I don't know if this topic has been brought up, and if so, my apologies. Here goes. The 737 has been poked, prodded, tweaked, adjusted, folded, stapled, and mutilated to the point I doubt Boeing can wring yet still another further different variant out of it. On the Airbus side: th...
