I believe the 2nd level only exists for the concourses directly connected to the head house (gates 1-11, 25+). Let's see. MSC planned opening is Sept. B6 increasing ops at LAX in Oct. B6 worked with LAWA on move. Less international demand for the foreseeable future. Can you say B6 moving into MSC north?

AA has a good transatlantic partner in BA which covers South Africa and the African continent pretty well. They also have a partnership with RAM. I wouldn't say AA is weak in Africa, they just don't find the need to fly their own metal to Africa.

I will fly first/business class all the time unless it is a short, <1.0 hrs, flight. Being a person "of size", the comfort you get in first with the larger seats is very important to me. The room also allows my seatmate more comfort too.

Terminal Zero and terminal 9 are Also on hold. Flyguy Terminal 9 I can understand as it would require a lot landslide and airside work. Putting concourse zero on hold surprises me as it is all airside which would be easier. Seems like you could complete it and then just close it off from Terminal 1...

Pacific Surfliner #572 departs Union Station at 10:54am. Arrives San Diego 1:52pm. If you miss that, you can get on the 12:33pm Surfliner, arrives 3:28pm. Don't know what the Flyaway schedule is, so you might want to Uber/Lyft to Union Station. That would be my suggestion.
