Continental's first few A300's were registered N966C-N972C but then were re registered into 5 digit numbers when they took over Eastern's A300's and changed all those to 5 digits as well.

Thanks for the possible explanations. Those flights operate daily for at least a week between 3/24 and 3/31 so if it's something big in Vegas it's more than just a one or 2 day thing.

While researching flights to LAS in late March I discovered 763 flights from ATL, DTW, and MSP that all appear to be in addition to the normal schedule and all arrive between 11:30am and 12:50pm using 8XXX flight numbers. Anyone know the reasons?

ATC does not cancel flights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone that says that is lying, plain and simple.The only thing ATC can do is initiate ground delays, enroute spacing programs, etc. Now these delays may affect crew rest and duty times, but only the airline itself can cancel flights.

If they're doing an Allegheny flying wedge scheme, then a Mohawk black and gold retrojet would be a natural choice. It wouldn't look nearly as good on an 319 as it did on the 1-11, but it would still be a fitting tribute.
