Thanks for the possible explanations. Those flights operate daily for at least a week between 3/24 and 3/31 so if it's something big in Vegas it's more than just a one or 2 day thing.
Jump to postWhile researching flights to LAS in late March I discovered 763 flights from ATL, DTW, and MSP that all appear to be in addition to the normal schedule and all arrive between 11:30am and 12:50pm using 8XXX flight numbers. Anyone know the reasons?
Jump to postNice collection! Is there a Mohawk FH-227 in there somewhere?

As far as cargo goes, Burlington flew their 707 in for a year or 2 in the 1989-1990 time frame, and then many DC-8's and 727's after that. Kalitta was in quite a bit during the 90's with the DC-8's and occasionally the L1011. I saw a Zantop Electra a few times but I think it was operating for someon...

Mohawk acquired Aloha's 3 1-11's along with 3 from Braniff in the late 60's. After the merger, several more ex Braniff versions were acquired by Allegheny.
Jump to postROC is a new destination, and the new flights are only going to be twice a week. That shouldn't strain the gate situation at FLL too much.

Jump to postATC does not cancel flights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone that says that is lying, plain and simple. The only thing ATC can do is initiate ground delays, enroute spacing programs, etc. Now these delays may affect crew rest and duty times, but only the airline itself can cancel flights.

Jump to postIf they're doing an Allegheny flying wedge scheme, then a Mohawk black and gold retrojet would be a natural choice. It wouldn't look nearly as good on an 319 as it did on the 1-11, but it would still be a fitting tribute.
