Congrats to EI!

Perhaps the first of a number of European cities which EI will serve using the A321NEOLR while the aircraft are in-between operating DUB-US routes ?
Etihad used a Boeing 787-9 to DUB on EY45/42 this morning (30 March), with a 787-10 to be used tomorrow (31 March). Think this will be the first time EY have sent a Dreamliner to DUB & also will be the first visit of the 78X to DUB? Separately, looking forward to seeing AirBaltic and TAP both re...Jump to post

Hey guys. I noticed while playing back the below video of a FedEx Airbus A300 takeoff that the flaps do not appear to have been deployed for takeoff. Is this a regular occurance in regular commercial operations? The takeoff in the below video is also rather short so would that indicate a very light ...Jump to post
Great to see Qatar in Dublin but their 787 is very uncomfortable in economy, real let down for such a good airline , hopefully they'll change the equipment soon They seem to be admitting this themselves by sending an A350 on the first flight on June 12th. Nevertheless they should do quite well in D...Jump to post
I think the EI Twitter account is run by kids, they did post a pic of an A330 last year & named it 'Planey McPlaneface'. A desperate & pathetic attempt at humour & attention. Context is everything. This was after a much publicised news item in the UK where a new marine research vessel w...Jump to post
United have updated 2017 schedules and B772 continues during the summer on the 09.00 service. 12.55 continues to operate with B752. Chicago will also operate with B763 from 1 July until 5 September (end of season). http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/airlineroute/270444/united-s17-long-haul-service...Jump to post

Travel Extra reporting Tuesday for EI announcement. Have checked with another source and it correct this time and it's a big announcement.... What's the general expectation? MIA, DFW & LAX moving to daily? Any insight as to how BDL is performing? Looking at the GDS, J is full tonight ex BDL. Fr...Jump to post
Not sure of the quality of the above source, but it's interesting news if true: the beginning of the market for second-hand EK 77Ws!
Why is DY starting out of EWR when they have a base at JFK? Better proximity to NYC than JFK. JFK is also pretty full up. EI returned to EWR on Sept 1st with daily flights from Dublin, operated by a mix of A332/A333. EI has an extensive codeshare and even shares terminals with JetBlue at their Term...Jump to post

The cabin is left in a pretty disgusting state, the toilets in particular. How can this happen?

Going back to daily from double daily to SEA and BOS is pretty significant reduction, that also augur weak travelling demand. In the very same way that going back to double daily from daily to SEA and BOS will be a significant increase.. Most of these changes are for a brief six weeks. Recent chang...Jump to post
So they took in huge losses by operating those flights last year, and they learned their lesson. $600m was lost in the first 6 months of this year, not last. Bottom line is there are hardly any cancelled routes. Most of these are mere frequency cuts. There are no permanently cancelled routes, yet.....Jump to post

I would say this was expected, let's see if TK to get rid o some older planes/postpone new deliveries. JFK to go down to 2 daily, LAX 11 to 7 W, Atlanta 7 to 5 weekly, Taipei 7 to 5 W...... Expected ? These cuts go right across almost every route on the entire European network, affecting almost 100...Jump to post
Its not drastic to reduce 7 weekly to 5 weekly. For one route, it's minor. But for almost every route across the European network? It's certainly significant for TK, whose strategy for the past number of years has been built on higher frequencies than competitors. I also saw no flight cuts to the U...Jump to post
Yes there are problems in Turkey keeping people from traveling there but most of these are somewhat typical seasonal frequency adjustments. The reason you're seeing so many is because TK has expanded so fast into destinations that can't support that many frequencies year round. The vast majority ar...Jump to post
Many European legacies carriers and non legacies carries are also cutting capacity, or even suspending routes. These cuts at TK are at a scale not comparable at another other European legacy carrier right now. Practically every TK European route is seeing a reduction in frequency, with a number of ...Jump to post
Well that is a lot. I find surprising some reductions and whether some routes are not cancelled altogether. Maybe a question of prestige and keeping the route "on hold" until things improve? For instance BIO has gone from daily to 5 weekly to now 2 weekly (!). To be honest I can't underst...Jump to post
According to one of the other threads it's part of much bigger overall network cuts Yep, which will also surely reduces the possible Middle East/Asia connection possibilities ex-IST for DUB-originating passengers. With EY reducing DUB to daily, and now TK also reducing flights, it appears that EK h...Jump to post

The latest news (rumors) is that TK has decided to economise the number of cabin (flight) attendants in the ER flights. I wonder, in which ways this will affect the overall cabin service quality.
