Re: Why WN does not fly to Canada --

What if WN (or B6) were to fly to Hamilton (YHM)? It qualifies as an official port of entry into Canada (complete with CBSA/TSA customs), it's not very far from downtown Toronto (around an hour's drive), and I'd assume the landing fees aren't nearly as high as YYZ (as it is a smaller international a...

Given how the gear got stuck in that position, barring a sudden reorienting of the wheels in-flight (virtually impossible that this would correct itself), this kind of landing is the best possible result that could happen.

I do know that their first three 772s (4X-ECA, 4X-ECB, and 4X-ECC) were delivered from Jan - Apr 2001, so that's a possible explanation for the second lease, but the first lease's purpose seems unclear. At two separate points from 1998-2001, LY leased two different MD-11s from World Airways. The first was N278WA from July-December 1998 (which moved on to Avianca, and is now currently stored at VCV since 2017), and the second was N277WA from August 2000 - January 2001 (which moved on to Garuda Indon...

EL AL could and should use the 777-300ER to replace the 747-400 on the Two Aviv to New York JFK route since JFK is slot restricted. They actually posted an $83K USD profit in Q2, much better than the $18m loss at this point last year. Big reasons why are the decreased fuel costs and the fleet replacements of the 767s and 747s with 789s, of which most have been delivered.
