I think the VS 339 order makes sense as a transatlantic workhorse. I've flown their 789 from BOS to LHR and from JFK to LHR. I enjoyed both premium economy and the upper class experience. It seems that VS has adapted Delta's rationale that the 789 is overkill for those routes. A 787-10 could have wo...Jump to post
For domestic business/first? $5,000? You gots to be kidding. What kind of fool pays this sort of money for something which is only slightly better than economy class? People's employers pay mostly. Really? For domestic travel? Interesting. Mine doesn't. We are allowed to book business for internati...Jump to post

It's not "slightly better than economy class". According to all of the trip reports on Youtube - it is sl...Jump to post
Because they are primarily destinations. Focus Cities are markets where the Delta wants to be the premier business airline. The types of customers that Delta is targeting live in places like AUS, BNA, SJC, BOS, NYC, LAX, SEA, ATL but they travel to LAS, TPA, MCO and MSY. Does that make sense? I don...Jump to post
To me Delta is redefining the term focus city and applying it liberally to get some free press. Get back to me when they start announcing routes that would suggest a real focus city. RDU and CVG fit the definition in my mind, but I haven't seen anything apart from larger Sky Clubs to suggest a DL f...Jump to post

Virgin Atlantic have announced a return to Mumbai from 27OCT with daily 787-9 operations from LHR. Fills the gap slightly which was left by the demise of 9W. https://blog.virginatlantic.com/virgin-atlantic-makes-welcome-return-to-mumbai/ I understand Jet is gone (DL's partner), but for DL (and thei...Jump to post
in a state that seems hell-bent on kicking the can until the can gets stuck in Ted Williams traffic. That's the most accurate description I've read about the state and city plans for public transport. We are moving to Southie at the end of June (on the east side). I think it's only landside - similar to EWR and JFK. Airside would be nice (especially for DL / SkyTeam), but probably prohibitively expensive. Even with Delta's expansion at BOS, I still don't think it will ever be a connecting hub in the way that ATL/MSP/DTW/SLC are. UA and AA have minimal connect...Jump to post
[quote=“tphuang”] They've cut this route to once a day plenty of times before. Not sure what they are doing here still. Just as a comparison from Q4. They are far away the weakest here. I'm not sure what's the point of this route for them given where i think LAX ranks in their focus cities/hubs. Cit...Jump to post

I think that the problem with Terminal A is the rapid Delta growth. It's very true that it can be very hard to find a seat at Legal's or Lucky's (which actually has surprisingly good food - at least for what I order, which is almost always the greek salad with chicken). The little kiosk also has sur...Jump to post
Yes, they loaded the 767 to London on A6 quite a bit last summer. Wouldn't be surprised to see any of the 757/767 flights do the same this year. I thought Terminal A was busy during the late afternoon / early evening rush last year - this year is going to be bananas from about 3:00 on because there ...Jump to post
No surprise, although it took them long enough. I wonder if the launch was because of the Jet shut down, not in spite of. The Jet shut down eliminated a lot of options for DL loyalists to get to India. I agree that the connections on the India side need to be sorted. They need to have service to Del...Jump to post
I think you have two underlying issues which all the others stem from. 1 - Cultural differences. The French will, want to forever be seen to offer things like intercontinental First class and keep up some kind of premium image. The Dutch are happy to take a line closer to Delta and offer a reasonab...Jump to post
Perhaps the underlying reason for all the problems is that the US is a 3rd world country masquerading as a first world country. If those in charge would do a really good job, then every large infrastructure program would be holistically approached instead of everyone having their own little kingdom...Jump to post
I use BOS every week and take the 6:50 am flight to ORD from B. IMO, A and E are the best in terms of passenger pickups and drop-offs. B is a hit and miss. There are great days and sometimes a nightmare. The biggest holdup typically always happens to C. C and E incidentally also share the same ride...Jump to post
adamh8297 wrote:washingtonflyer wrote:DL calling it quits on competition routes out of BOS?
DL pushed back the start dates on these routes until end of September. Example the 4x daily BOS-EWR starts 9/30.
We’re using “business travel” as one monolithic thing. The reality is that there is a lot of segmentation in there. For smaller companies like startups that are based in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville, my understanding is that B6 does very well with corporate contracts. For the large companies and cons...Jump to post
SpaceshipDC10 wrote:c933103 wrote:Longer than SFO-GUM?
GUM is not part of any of the 50 states. It's a territory, thus it's not domestic per se. Distance-wise, it's longer, per gcmap.
Huh. I fly TATL ex-BOS on DL and partners on the reg. I don't get the LGW adds. Who are they targeting? I actually wouldn't mind going through LGW; the Gatwick Express is about 15 minutes longer than the Heathrow Express. Logically, it works fine, but I'm not sure what the busienss case is, other th...Jump to post
Seat assignments as a gauge for LF in economy is not particularly helpful, especially with the introduction of basic economy fares. For a variety of reasons, there are a lot of seat assignments that happen within a few hours of the flights departing.Jump to post
Iyerhari- (I think this was you) - have you heard anymore from Massport over the carrier market share at BOS? It was mentioned that DL is pulling ahead of AA, curious to see if that trend continued. I’m sure it will change in the fall when DL adds the slew of ORD/DCA etc...Jump to post
I have no idea why it's more common outside the US. It does happen sometimes in the US, notably at JFK. It will likely become more common at BOS Terminal E this summer. I do enjoy it - I find that at some airports (CDG, FRA), it's often faster than disembarking through the jet bridge, because the bu...Jump to post
I wouldn't be surprised if Delta added some seasonal flying to KEF, but I also wouldn't bet on it. I view DL to KEF in a similar way that I view DL to DUB, which the main difference being that KEF is a smaller market. In any event, here's a WBZ report of the WOW passengers stranded at BOS. https://t...Jump to post
I fly DL a lot and there's a huge improvement on the planes with the faster wifi technology. At some point? Even Atlanta will run out of real estate if it hasn't already. So? I thought it was originally the BA predecessor (BOAC).
Welp, I've learned that people have varying opinions of T7.
Overall, I'm pretty excited about the JFK vision.
There is a big JFK conference this morning at the NYU Wagner center. A few things that I'm seeing - As mentioned, T8 will be expanded and BA will move in with AA - B6 will expand in the space formerly occupied by T6 and T7. No details on what that means - It's a goal to create one unified terminal,...Jump to post
